A girl pushed the door open, sending a light chiming through the cafe. It had been recently remodeled, you could tell by the new looking floors and counters. Beatrix didn't ask questions about what had happened, she didn't seem to care at all. All that mattered was that when she came into the room she could smell the sweet scent of Coffee cooking and being brewed.
" Yummy, smells good." Sighed the soft voice of Beatrix as she strolled over and leaned on the counter, honey eyes taking in the menu on the board above. Her body was swaying to what one would thing was a tango or something, yet no music was playing. Or, as far as anyone could tell no music was playing. A young man came to her aid and stood before her, asking for an order.
" Hmm, Hazelnut ice-coffee. With, oh...I don't know, an everything bagel toasted with some creamcheese on the side. Put some whip-cream on the ice-coffee. I think that should be good." Advised the girl nodding her head with a smile as she stepped to the side and looked at the register as if questioning it. A hand ran through her silky blond hair before falling to the counter. Sparkling pink, manicured, nails tapped out a playful beat as she waited with patience.
The man returned and slid a tray across the counter to her. Ringing up the price, Beatrix smiled and handed him the money. Upon getting the change she thanked him and seemingly meranged her way to the table she had chosen. A two-seater by the window. As the young 15 year old girl danced her way to that table, her wrap-around skirt twisted about her ankles. It would bare her knees and such as she moved, the place where the two ends overlapping opening just enough to show a little bit of leg.
" Finally." The girl sighed, sliding her self into the chair. A hand straightened the black spagetti strap shirt she wore. It was black mainly, outlined in white and reminded people of a flower as the bottom hem looked like a bunch of petals. The skirt she wore was white about the waist line and black for the most part. It also had that petal like appearence. A hand went to the small tub of cream cheese and pealed the foil off the top and dug a knife deep inside as the girl worked to covered half of her bagel in the delicious spread.

Jonelle walked into the cafe, mostly unnoticed. She made it to the counter without anyone screaming. This was good. "Excuse me, ma'am? I'd like a hot--" The woman shreiked. Jonelle sighed. "Miss, I'd just like--" "WHAT IS THAT!!" the woman shrieked again. "Gimme a freakin' HOT CHOCOLATE!" shouted Jo, and the woman complied shakily. Jo sighed in frustration. Luckily there weren't very many people in the cafe. "Thank you." Jo managed to claw a 5 dollar bill onto the counter. "Keep the change." she muttered and sat down near Beatrix. "If it wasn't such a friggin' drama every time I went anywhere, I might be okay with not being able to handle some change. But no, it has to be, and I end up spending 40% more than what I should pay..." she muttered to herself.

Honey eyes rolled to the voice of someone muttering to themself unhappily. At first Beatrix had no idea how to act when she saw the blue girl, an a hunk of her bagel hung from her mouth as her hand went to scratch her head. Putting the begal down, Beatrix smiled and cleared her throat of the food by swallowing.
" Cool, you're blue! Are you from the school?" Beatrix asked pointing in the general direction of the boarding school. Now that she looked Jonelle, the girl seemed to be reather normal in the eyes of Beatrix. She had gotten pretty used to odd people and creatures by now, knowing that not everything is as it seems. " I'm Beatrix Tristan, pleasure to meet you." And without hesitating Beatrix stuck her hand out. She would shake a claw, that didn't seem bad at all. Infact, she wanted to see if the girl understood that Beatrix meant no harm but wanted a companion for her little stay at the coffee shop.

Jonelle turned around in her chair. It was always a pleasure to meet someone like Beatrix. Gifted people never spurned you like the normals did. "Yeah, I noticed." Jo laughed and lightly gripped Beatrix's hand with her claw. "Yes, I'm from Cassis. Jonelle Steele at your service." Meeting someone, actually meeting someone, made her feel like she was back at her old school where people talked to her, accepted her, even though she was a lobster. "What do you do, what's your power?" Jo asked, taking a sip of her hot chocolate. Just small talk, but it was something, for now.

" This." Beatrix explained. She held out her hand and from her very palm came a small crystal in the shap of 10 point-star. It looked more like a million pointed on as small points came out all over the place and rounded at the tips. " I can create crystals from my bdoy and enchant things." Explained Beatrix as she placed the strange crystal on the table for Jonelle to mess around with at her whim.
Beatrix took back to eating the piece of her bagel that had been placed on the playte just moments before. Contimplating whether to ask the girl about her powers, Beatrix looked deep in thought for a few moments as she chewed the bagel piece slowly. Shrugging, Beatrix looked back and smiled at Jo, swallowing the mass of bagel in her throat.
" What can you do? I mean other than having cool little claws, hair and the fact your blue..." Laughed Beatrix as she turned to her ice-coffe and sipped casually at it.

"Well...a demonstration could get me in big trouble." said Jonelle, contemplating what to do. "But whatever, I'll make it small." Jo rubbed her claws together, so that miniscule, invisible, cells fell off. Jo called upon her power and the cells were soon visible, making tiny little falling explosions. "Other than freaking people out, I can detonate my DNA. It doesn't hurt me, but I would die if I detonated my whole body." Jo flipped her hair out of her eyes and drank some of her hot chocolate. She picked up a crystal. "What do you mean, enchant? And could you make a sword out of these?" she asked. Jo liked the thought of a crystal sword. It would be the coolest thing ever.

" I'd have to be at home with the big cauldron and stuff to enchant it. But I can make a sword. Watch." Explained Beatrix. Hold out her arm, palm up a blade shot from her wrist to form a large tinted blue, crystal, sword. The hilt ended just in her hand and looked as if it were ready to shoot into and through the window. But, Beatrix caught it and held it out for Jo to play with it at her will.
" I can give good luck charms, make it so you appear different for a short time, underwater-breathing enchantments, grant you faster running, uuuh...ward off eveil spirits-hexes-curses, Things like that. However. I need my iingredients and I need my cauldron. " Laughed Beatrix as she thought about her self disguised as a witch in a pointy hat with her broom in one hand and one large ladel in the other. " Kind of like a witch!" Laughed the girl, fully bringing into view why she had been laughing.

Jonelle gaped at the sword. Awesome-o 4000! she thought, quoting a cartoon. She took it in her hand and laughed at Beatrix's comment. "I knew someone who was a witch-giftie. But she was less cauldron, enchant-y, less...hm...altogether less subtle. She was all wand swing-y and balls of fire or lightning or other stuff would come out. Once she summoned a Frankenstein butler for a halloween party." Jo smiled as she remembered what the times were like back in the day. "Yeah, it was awesome." Jo stirred her hot chocolate a little, and then sipped some more. "How'd you end up here?" she asked. Her eyes, although lacking pupils, were curious.

" Me? Heh." Beatrix smiled and thought back to what she could remember. Her parents being taken away to prison, her being sent to an orphange and then to her relatives. All that had happened in her fifteen years of living. Chocolate-colored hands held her cup lightly as she looked down upon the melting whip cream.
" My parents are in jail, I lived in a village with my aunt and uncle. The people there all treated me kindly and worked together to get enough money to secure me a highschool education." Explained the girl, a soft smile on her face as she remembered the kind old folks she was known to help. The gentle neighbors and friendly baker. Everything about that small village rushed through her mind and that tender smile seemed to be one of happiness as her pink, manicured, nail tapped the side of the cup.
" What about you?" She asked, turning to look at the curious and yet strange girl.

"Me?" Jo said. "Well, it wasn't fun. I was made by a scientist, he raised me for two years, and then, for no reason, said he had to send me away. He said he'd find me when I was older. He said he'd know where to find me. And I believed him. I still think he would've, had things not changed even more."
"I was brought to this city. Wonderful place. Gifties and normals everywhere, coexisting without fights, or screaming baristas. I was raised properly and accepted. I made friends, enemies, and had a great time. Pretty awesome 12 years of my life."
"But, of course, when there's something good, it seems evil to someone else. Anti-gifted activists bombed the school I was in. Everyone I knew died, but I didn't. I managed to fight the few that were there off and escape, finding that the whole city had been bombed like the school. I managed to get my way here, and managed to enroll in Cassis. I'm happy because of it, but...you know, screaming baristas." She fooled around with the sword, pretty clumsily, because she didn't have hands.

" Hmm. I'm sorry about you friends." Beatrix said with a soft smile. She began working on the last bits of the bagel. Chewing happily she smiled and chuckled softly at the comment refering to the woman who had freaked out earlier. "Ther baristas get used to odd things. People with wings and people who are purple or whatever. There are lots of em." Explained Beatrix with a smile.
" Oh, yes, you can call my Trixy. That is if you want to." Add the girl wih a smile. " It's a nickname I've had for all my life." Beatrix exaplined further.

"Thanks, you should probably call me Jo." she said. "It's oddly no big deal about my friends. It happened so fast...I think my brain, somehow, has surpressed my emotions about it. Or just deleted any emotional response. Somehow. I don't know why." Jo sighed. "Maybe my...dad, I guess, will be able to explain it to me if he tracks me down. Until then, I just hope people can get over the fact that I'm odd." Jo sighed, and then looked at the sword. "I will treasure it always."

" He'll probably find you. I'm sure he misses you, whether you are his real daughter. OR something he created. He's still a father to you." Beatrix nodded and smiled at the comment of the sword being cherished. " IF I had my cauldren I would give it a glow...but...That's in my dorm. Under my bed." Beatrix explained with a laugh.

"I hope so. I want to know what the heck was running through his mind." she said, and then sighed. "But I find it disturbing that my mother was probably a machine." She placed the sword on her lap and finished off her hot chocolate. She walked back up to the counter to return the cup. "Use the three bucks that I did not have to pay you and give me a muffin. Any muffin." she stated clearly, as the hyperventilating lady gave Jonelle a muffin. Jo returned to the table and, with surgical precision, removed the paper from the muffin and took a small bite. "So, have you heard about this fair?"

" Oh, the Valley Fair Cassis seems to be having? Yes. It seemed interesting. But, I just don't feel up to it. They don't really have my kind of things there. I'm more the outdoorsie, hiker." Laughed Beatrix. She watched the small crustatian-like girl demand a muffin and return. Beatrix was a bit shocked at how easy it seemed for the girl to take the wrapper of the muffin.
" You're pretty good with those pincers, huh?" Laughed the girl softly as she sipped her ice-coffe almost completely draining it by now. Maybe they do have a rock wall or something at the fair. We will just have to check it out.[/i] The mind of young Miss Tristan was decided, she would...at some point...go and see if the fair had anything she liked.
