Wandering Minds, Idle Thoughts..

Alicia giggled at his comment. "Uh huh, knew you couldnt pass up a free meal! Just like I cant pass up a free cup of hot apple cider!!" She closed her eyes and hummed at just the thought of the cider. She started to walk to the mall with only a slight limp and a little grimace that went along with each step she took. As they walked she noticed that he was paying a lot of attention to how much pressure she put on her ankle and what every reaction was. She laughed, "I am okay! Really I am! Dont worry, I will make it, though I will like to sit down with some fried rice, orange chicken, and an egg roll!" She said, trying to lighten the mood some. Alicia saw that the mall was in sight and inwardly she felt as if a weight had been lifted from her shoulders. Even though she was acting okay, every step seemed to make her ankle throb. She set herself up for that last set of steps that would lead them to the mall. She breathed inwardly and calmed herself. You can do this Alicia! You have been hurt worse before..Yea, I know, but never this sharp, throbbingpain, you know? Usually, if it hurts it hurts. But it hits harder everytime it pulses like that. It hurts, then it doesnt, then it hurts worse.. She shook her head and wiped a bead of sweat off her forehead. She watched the automatic doors to the mall open up and immediately smelled the food court. They had walked to the entrance closest to the food court. On purpose of course.. She let her nose lead her to the chinese store nestled between Taco Bell and Papa's Pizzaria. She inhaled deeply and walked straight up to the line. "Umm..I want some fried rice, orange chicken, and an egg roll..and a medium orange soda if you have it?" She went down the line, watching as the person behind the counter filled her tray full of wonderful food. She could feel her mouth watering and she couldnt wait to sit down and eat. Alicia paid for her food and picked up a pair of chopsticks. Although she couldnt use them very well, she loved to try. She waited for Anthony to get his, for she needed to pay for his too. As she waited, she scanned the tables and found a seat for them both. Another reason for the chopsticks..now I cant stuff my face and make a heathen out of myself in front of him. She smiled in satisfaction.

Anthony shrugged his shoulder at her and nodded with compliance to her. "Well, if you hadn't of been running from me, you wouldn't have hurt your ankle, but at least I caught up to you." He said with a humorous tone finally able to take his attention off of her ankle. He figured as much, seeing as how such a strong woman she was. She didn't need some guy to watch after her. He began to think about going to the mall.
Its been so long since I've been there... Wonder if they have any good places to find my kind of clothing?
Before he knew it, they had arrived at the mall and he watched as ALicia was drawn in by the smell. He himself was to enthralled with eating, but he was hungry. He watched her for the direction of the food court and followed her. After she had ordered her food, He nodded his head to the server.
"I'll have the same as her, please." He smiled at the server and she flashed him a wierd look and shook her head, filling the order of fried rice, orange chicken and the egg roll. "Oh, Mountain dew to drink and could you please include two fortune cookies?"
The server nodded again, and got the food together and placed everything down. Anthony looked over to Alicia and gave her a look. "I'll go ahead and get this."
He payed for his food. He knew he'd hear it from her in a minute about him paying for his own mean, but he wasn't too accustomed to having someone pay for his meal, let alone a girl he liked.
"Well, I'm ready!" He said and reached back grabbing a pair of chopsticks and went to find a table, but he didn't know that she already had one picked out. When he reached the table, he sat down and looked for Alicia. Without another thought he place one of the fortune cookies on her side of the table and opened up his own. He read it in his thoughts.
Relationships are about to change. Hold dear to friends He instantly smiled.

Alicia frowned at Anthony when he paid for his own food. "Hey!" She exclaimed playfully. She wasnt upset that he actually paid for his own food. She watched him sit down at the table that she had picked out. Great minds think alike! She couldnt help but smile at the thought as she sat down across from him. The first thing she headed for was the fried rice. She had always been a huge fan of fried rice! She used the chopsticks haltingly, and dropped more than she got to eat. She laughed as she got less and less on each try. She shrugged and moved on to the orange chicken. She tried over and over but the chicken slid out of the chopsticks more times than she could count. She sighed, took one chopstick in each hand, and used the one in her right hand to spear the chicken. "Shish-ca-bob!" She exclaimed, mostly to herself, then realized that she had done all this and said that out loud right in front of him. She blushed, and quickly stuck the chicken in her mouth and began to eat it. She used that as an excuse to not have to say anything. As she looked up and saw him smile and didnt realize why. She leaned her head to the side and gave him a questioning look. When she saw that he was looking at a fortune cookie, she also noticed that there was one sitting beside her plate. She picked it up, unwrapped it and took out the paper inside. Since she was still eating the huge peice of chicken, she couldnt read it out loud.

As she read it, she swallowed the peice of chicken. She looked up at Anthony slowly. Fortune about to increase. I think it already has. As for a look out for opportunities..this one smacked me in the face..how could I miss it? She also remembered that he had paid for his own food and couldnt help but play around. "I thought I was paying, huh? You know what this means dont you? I am buying my own apple cider!" She laughed and put the fortune cookie down and went back to work on her rice. She saw him eating with his chopsticks," How do you use those so well?" She asked jealous at his skill with chopsticks.

Anthony galently watched Alicia go for the food, and slightly laughed in his head at her hard earned eating skills. If only she could have my power for five minutes, it wouldn't be so hard to use them. He quickly quit watching her and started in on his food and with every bite, not a single single grain of rice was dropped. He looked at her and gave a cheeky grin.
I hope she's having fun. Her company is most enjoyable... maybe later, she'd like to go to the lake? He thought as he quickly finished off his chicken. He left most of his rice, but his egg roll wasn't as lucky. Scarfing it down, he took a drink of the Mountain dew. "Well, this was eventful, but what is that your fortune. WHat did it say?" He asked before he reached for it. He wondered if hers was as lucky as his. He could only wish.
"Use what? My charm? My luck? or my chopsticks?" He teased with her, but knew what she was talking about. He dipped his head down a little and brought it back up with a smile. "Well, my ability to control earth remember. The chopsticks are made of wood and well, you get the idea. Watch." He told her and moved his fingers away from each other revealing that each chopstick was still on his fingers even as he moved them about. They didn't fall. He brought his fingers back together as he saw a kid watching him and he secretly whispered to his mother. She then looked back at him and smiled, but he could hear her.
"Johnny, his fingers are probably sticky. Now come on... quit staring." Anthony couldnt help but bust out in laughter, concealing it from the two. He looked at Alicia and gave her a confident grin. "As long as I don't get caught of course. His mother wouldn't have beleived me if I tried it infront of her!"
He leaned back in his chair after he finished eating and placed his hands behind his head and sighed. "So, now that I'm done eating, I'm waiting on you and where would you like to go next? I Know I payed for my own meal, but I'm still going to pay for your cider. Gentlemans rules, naturally! I WON'T take no for an answer." He closed his eye's as he leaned his head toward the ceiling.
Everything seems to be working out great. I hope it keeps going this way, cause my fortune is suppose to come true. He wondered as a smile appeared on his face.

Alicia ducked her head and laughed into her hand, trying to conceal it from the woman and her tattle tale little son. She waved a hand in front of her face trying to get some air. She took a sup of her drink, and sighed patting her stomach lightly. "Im done!" She picked up the paper from the fortune cookie. " Why should I show you?" She asked playfully as she hid the paper behind her back. "Gentlemen's rules? Now where did you come up with an chauvanistic idea like that?" She asked, then laughed at him. "Im just kidding..If you want to pay for my cider then be..my..guest!" She stretched the words out because she was making faces at him with every word. She laughed even harder. She leaned her chair back onto its back two legs and balanced precariously. She kept an eye on him as she worked to keep herself off the floor. She giggled, "Well, I am not thirsty right now..so how about we either..go window shopping or we could go to the lake that I told you about earlier?" She asked, hopeful that he would choose the lake. She could really go for a dip, it was hot outside and walking on her hurt ankle had, unfortunately worked up a sweat. So not only would it be good therapy for her ankle, it would cool her down. Plus..If he is such a nature boy..I wonder if he can swim?Surely he can swim! She corrected her mental mistake with a shake of her head and a grin. "So!" She let her chair down lightly, but couldnt stop the sharp thud of the legs hitting the tiles. She looked over at the woman and boy that had seen Anthony. She blushed and looked back at Anthony with an embarrassed smile on her face." Ready to get out of here?" She asked, wanting to get away from the watchful eyes of the mother. She got up quickly and threw her empty tray on top of the trash can, and her trash into the trash can. She stretched and looked around until she spotted the door. She started to head that direction, but turned around. "Oh yeah..I was just playing about not letting you see my fortune cookie..here you go!" She handed him the folded up peice of paper. "What did yours say?"

Anthony tried to get it out of her hands, but failed in the attempt. It was killing him to not know what it said and she somehow knew it seemed to bother him. He had almost forgot about the lady and the little boy until he looked over at them and saw that the boy was still curious about him wanting to see another magic trick. Anthony quickly waved to the boy as he turned around after seeing that he was caught staring.
Anthony looked at Alicia again and frowned when she said she wasn't even thirsty. O'well. I guess that will just give me all the more reason to hang out with her later on. Another meeting, and another time to just accompany her. You know... THat isn't a bad Idea. I'll remind her later so I can have reason to hang out with her again. PERFECT! He micheviously thought in his head. He knew just how to go about getting another 'date' out of this situation. He nodded to her. "Well, that's fine. I guess I'll just bug you tomorrow to go out with me agai... To hang out and get something to drink. Just remember, I'm paying. Gentlemans rules!" HE thought for a minute and continued. "Remember. Gentlemen's Rule!"
He turned it around to make himself look good and he lifted his chin in honour of himself with laughter erupting. He stood up with her and made for the exit throwing away his garbage as well, and took one last sip of his drink. Taking a peek at a few stores he saw that had a few items that he'd like to give to ALicia, just as friend gifts.
"Well, I'm not too crazy about window shopping, but I'd like the lake. I spent so much time out this morning, it seriously gave me a hanker'in to go swimming. I love the water, although I hate to tell you... I'm not a strong swimmer." He worked up a good plan to frighten her, but he was interested in what she would do. For honesty, he was a good swimmer. With a instant reaction he took her fortune and began to read it.

He smiled. He didn't know if her's was as good as his, but he playfully teased back. "Why should I show you mine. I had to practically take your's away from you." With that he quickly took her hand, opening it and placed it in her palm and closed her hand back. He took off in a sprint to the doors and headed for the lake back at school.
