Atali Karaka opened the main door to the building which was Cassis school for the gifted. She looked around wide eyed with a smile across her face, "Wow!" She thought excitedly...

Tiffany trudged up the steps slowly. Laodice was gone..She angrily wiped away the tears. "He said I could trust him..." She muttered, devastated by the loss. Why did he leave? Did she do something wrong? She shook her head. She refused to blame herself. Yet the hurt remained. The tears that had been wiped away were quickly replaced, as her vision blurred drastically. She stumbled and sobbed, grabbing onto the railing of the steps. She crumpled, letting the tears flow freely. She hated herself for it..for crying, and for caring as much as she did. She didnt want to cry where everyone could see her. So she stood up and made her way into the building slowly. She tried to get to her dorm room, but she obviously got turned around somewhere and ended up at the front entrance. She accidentally ran into a girl that had entered the building. "Huh?" She muttered confused and a little lost.

Atali turned startled at the girl who was crying, "Omigosh, I'm sorry!" She said as she turned. "Wha- What's wrong?!?" She asked concerned. She wasn't used to people crying around her, and wanted to know how she could help... "Are you alright?!?" Taly tilted her head to the side as she looked at the girl...

Jarrod was incredulous. He had been here for what, maybe ten seconds, and already he was encountering problem-stricken people. "Er-" He had to stop himself from instantly rushing over to see what was the matter. This wasn't any of his business, after all. Still, he couldn't help but be a little curious. He had always been drawn to conflict - especially conflict that wasn't really his own. That had always been, according to him, his greatest weakness. He lingered for a few moments more, pretending to take interest in some invisible flaw in the walls as he paused in the middle of the stairway several feet away from the conversing girls.

Tiffany stopped suddenly, the tears stopping in their tracks at the sight of the newcomers. Her misery was quickly replaced by curiousity. "Oh..Im..Im sorry..dont mind me." She said with a fake laugh, hurriedly wiping away the tears. "My name is Tiffany..Nothing is wrong..at least not physically. It is something I will have to get over, but in my own time." She said with a sniffle. " Who are you?" She asked the guy and the girl that she had walked into.

Jarrod looked aside at Tiffany as she wiped the tears away, claiming that she was just peachy. Perhaps nothing was physically wrong with her, but that didn't mean she was all right. 'Liar,' he thought as he approached; he figured it was ok now that she had initiated conversation with him. "My name's Jarrod," he told her, "Jarrod Sparks. Friends call me Sparky, though." He walked straight up to her with a friendly smile on his face and extended a graceful hand toward her, his hazel eyes seeming to simply shimmer with an amiable nature. "It's nice to meet you!"

Tiffany sniffed and huffed at the boy. "I am not lying..I will be okay.." She said extending a hand to the boy. " Nice to meet you too.." She said quietly. "Are you new to Cassis?" She asked as she straightened up. She let her blue eyes take a quick glance over the boy and the new girl. She struggled to smile and seem like she would be okay. She didnt want their first experience here to be of her bawling her eyes out.

"Yep," Jarrod replied. "I've not been here a full day yet." He smiled as he titled his head to the side. "So, you're a mind reader, hmm? That's how you knew what I was thinking? Or perhaps..." He looked mildly concerned for a moment, but that was quickly replaced with an air of playful confidence. "Was my tone really that transparent?" He shrugged as he let go of her hand, deciding that it didn't really matter in the scheme of things.
"Honestly," he continued in the course of earlier conversation, "I don't even know where everything is yet. Lunch, class, room - I can't find any of it.I feel so lost; Guess it can't be helped on the first day in a huge place like this, though, can it?"

Tiffany laughed shallowly. "Mind reader..no..I wish.." She said slowly, shaking her head. She lifted a hand slowly and condensed the water around her hand, forming a shallow puddle of water in her palm. She moved her hand, letting the water float and waver in the air. She made it into the shape of a bee, that flew around the boys head before bursting into hundreds of tiny droplets, creating a mist in the air. None of it hit the girl, Sparky, or Tiffany herself, as if it just disappeared. "Water elemental.." She said with a hint of a smile. "I can help if you want..I have pretty much got this place mapped out....Mostly.." She said, blushing, remembering that the only reason she had found them was she got lost..

Jarrod nodded as he watched the bee dissipate into thin air, a smile on his face as he watched the display. He turned his gaze back to her as she spoke to him, noticing the small blush that came to her face. 'I'm not that attractive,' Jarrod thought, 'So something else must be on her mind...' Deciding that she was the type to mention something if it was really, really bothering her, he decided to let it go and instead put a smile back on his face. "All right," he answered, "That would be very nice."

Tiffany shook the thought out of her head. "Sure..If you want, Im not doing anything right now..I can show you where the courtyard is, the cafeteria, the dorms, the water fountain..Have to be careful not to get lost though, it is surrounded by a maze.." She muttered already walking down the hallway. She tried to think of all the places that it would be necessary for him to know where it is. " The teachers classrooms are in one long hallway. They go in numerical order, the even on the left, the odd numbers on the right. Just like any other school.." She said quietly. She stepped into the hallway for the dorms. "This is where I was headed when I ran into you..I dont think I need anything from there right now though.." She explained for no particular reason.

The young man blinked twice before visibly shaking his head to clear it of his private thoughts. It wasn't like him to be so overly suspicious. He looked down the hallway they were stopped at to look at the scenery. "These are the dorms then?" he guessed, seeing that there were no longer numbers like there were in the classrooms. "It's nice," he concluded. He looked down to Tiffany, still smiling in the friendliest of ways.

She nodded her head. "Yes, the dorms are quite nice. We have had several people leave..and..umm.." She cleared her throat, then decided it was only right to tell him the utter truth. " And we have had a few..." Her voice dropped to a whisper. "Die.." She said, wringing her hands nervously. No one had heard from Victoria, the girl that had been killing people in town..One man killed himself. No one had recently seen Seaheart, who took pleasure in killing people slowly..Tiffany shook her head slowly not telling him all of that. She sniffed once more, and wiped her hand across her weary face. She continued on outside into the courtyard which led to the entrance to a large cafeteria. "There is our cafeteria..although the food is hardly ..edible.."She said with a dramatic shiver. "And I think the cafeteria lady hates me.." She whispered. She walked across the courtyard to a large archway. "This leads into the maze. At the center, there is a large fountain, at night it lights up..different colors and such." Yet again Laodice's features haunted the back of her vision and she angrily pushed it back to focus on Sparky.

His eyebrows raised as she mentioned the death of the students. 'What the,' he thought, wondering about that. This installation was a safe place, he was pretty certain of that, so what was it that had killed the students? He couldn't come to an answer about that one; it would be fun to solve the mystery over the course of the year in his free-time. He followed Tiffany as she left the dorms, laughing at the dramatic shivver induced by the mention of caffeteria food. "Of course you know, lunch ladies hate everybody," he whispered back to her. "It's in the Bad Cook's Manual." He was stricken by the maze. "It's wonderful!" he said. He'd always been a fan of puzzles, but this one easily took the cake. "I'll have to go explore it sometime, maybe even Metacreate a map when I get it sorted out..." He stopped his ramblings, shook his head once more and turned his eyes back to Tiffany. "This place is great!" he exclaimed.

Tiffany laughed, a little happier than she had been earlier. "I do love it.." She muttered. She smiled genuinely. "I am glad you like it too..Let me show you the library. It is one of my favorite places.." She said with a little bounce in her step. She pushed open the large doors and smiled with a feeling of coming home. She had spent many of her hours here. She looked back at Sparky. " I am sure if you really wanted a map of the maze, that you would find one in here.." She said, waving her hand in front of hundreds of rows of books. "But I wouldnt do it..ruins the fun of trying to find it yourself..makes you lose that sense of accomplishment you know?"
