Today wasn't the sunniest of days, not in the least. Thick, heavy, dark storm clouds had settled over the school grounds and surrounding city. It was dark and a bit on the chilly side out in the courtyard and the such. Rain came down in sheets, while thunder and lightening threatened to knock out the power. This however had not stopped a young woman from lighting a fire in a warm Common Room, or lounge if you will. It was one of the least used ones, being as it was furnished with old chairs and couches, and a bit on the small side.
Speaking of the couches one of them had a figure laying across it. Blond hair, straight and glistening with the light from the fire, fell over a small pillow and the arm rest gracefully. Lavender eyes scanned the pages of a book as Valerie sat half covered by a small knitted blanket. At her waist, the blanket stopped and revealed her slightly loose, white, and soft to the touch sweater. It had a high setting neck that was loose on her with loose fitting sleeves. Beneath the blanket was a pair of form fitting jeans she had found.
Valerie had grown bored of sitting in her room and began to wonder when she had stumbled upon this vacant lounge. Taking it upon herself to give the room some use, Valerie returned to her room and fetched a book, a blanket and a small pillow to use. Along with that she also grabbed a small book of matches, generally used for lighting candles in her and Belle's room. Valerie then returned, through some of the stocked firewood into the brick fireplace and set some news paper on fire.
" It's so comfortable." Sighed the girl, looking up from her book and leaning her head back a bit more. Breathing in the smell of the wood burning she gave a smile and looked to watched the crackling fire. She had grown cold, and the fire gave off the perfect glow to make the room seem more comfortable and welcoming. The only TV that was in here was a small flat-screen mounted above the fireplace. The dust showed how out of use it was.

Heavy rain fell outside as a young man made his way inside. His clothes were drenched and his brown hair was now plastered to his face, bringing up a hand to move it out of his eyes. He silently cursed his luck being outside at the time of the downpour because he hadn't expected it to start so soon. He knew it was coming, but on these rainy days is when his powers had taken their side effects. The earth was no longer solid but turned into a type of fluid, giving him a weakened state. I really hate it when it rains... gives me such a headache being indoors. I can't stand it. I know it helps the earth, but can it not just rain in area's at a time instead of raining on every single inch of land? He fussed with himself, letting his hands go to arms, rubbing them. A chill set on his arms, giving him a sudden shiver.
Passing one of the rooms, he felt some heat coming from the door and noticed that it was a lounge area. He bit his bottom lip as his hand reached for the door opening it up. He could feel the heat and walked in. Well, If it isn't the girl who stole my heart and ran away with it... He smiled instantly feeling better, walking behind the chair that she sat in. He let his wet hands touch her cheek slightly as he moved slightly incase of a sudden violent reaction to the touch. "Hello Beautiful!"

" Whoa!" Valerie jumped a little as she felt his cold, wet hands on her cheeks. She turned to see him and gave him a very welcoming smile. " Hello to you too, good looking." She said softly, her hair moving about to lift itself in the air and place itself over one shoulder in a braid now. Lavender eyes took in the soaked clothes and rather cold appearence he had going on.
" Aww, what happened to you? Come on, sit down and wrap up in this blanket. I don't want you getting cold." Valerie advised as her mother-like nature slammed into full gear. She stood, grabbing the blanket and throwing it over her shoulder approached him. Her hand pulled on the ends of his shirt. " We'll dry it by the fire. At least we can dry something without the teachers coming in and getting the wrong idea." She advised, tugging harder on the shirt.
Valerie brought herself closer, giving his lips a soft little kiss as greeting. " Poor, sweet, Anthony drenched." She whispered softly giving him another peck on the lips before stepping back and waiting for him to remove the soaked shirt. Must have been stuck out side. That's alright, Nurse Valerie will keep him from catching sick with body warmth and help from the fire![/i]

Jonelle sprinted as fast as her little legs could carry her. It was an overcast day! Was it really smart to swim? Of course it was, she belonged there. It was her first time in Cassis Lake, and it was wonderful. Her clear eyelids acted like swimming goggles, and it was truly a sight. But then the water started to get a little violent, and she realized it was raining. She had grabbed her towel bag and began to run for the Academy.
She made it to the doors and flopped against them. She gasped for air, and then leaned back pulled the doors open. She almost fell inside, breathing heavily. The doors closed behind her, and she opened her towel bag while walking slowly forwards. She tossed her towel on her head and rubbed it into her hair, but gently, so as not to hurt her antennae. Once mostly dried off, she sat down in a big comfy chair that the Common Room provided. She let her towel fall off her head and then looked at the two people. She blushed. "Oh...sorry..."

Anthony listened to her motherly advise and chuckled slightly, when she reached for his shirt. "Well, Val. This is interesting!" He said as he reached down for her hands and grasped them. "I'll be fine!" He said enjoying the kiss she had give him. He longed for her lips again, but refrained from it. "Besides, I think we have company!" He moved away from Valerie, closer to the fire, letting the heat warm his cold shirt. "Feels better already!" Sitting down infront of the fire place, he held his hands out to the fire getting the chill off him. "You know Val... I hate these rainy days.. they give me such a headache... Gives me a weird feeling every time! I don't know. I think it's tied into my powers?" He questioned her with the statement and turned around, letting his back face the fire. He felt one last chill as the numbing cold of his body left him. He turned his attention to the one in the room with them. " YOur fine... Don't worry about it! What's your name?" He asked the newcomer.

" Anthony." Sighed Valerie as he refused the removal of the shirt. She couldn't really care any less about what Jonelle so. All Val wanted was for him to be okay. She walked over and drapped the dry blanket around his shoulders and sat beside him, arms wrapped around his waist to keep the blanket up. " I don't care how 'interesting' it is. If you get sick don't come whining to me asking for me to take care of you. Even though I probably would." The last half she muttered under her breathe.
Lavender eyes left the profile of Anthony and fell on Jonelle. " Well, you look like you were stuck in the rain as well. Am I the only one who wasn't caught soaked?" Asked Valerie softly, with a pleasent smile. " I'm Valerie. Pleasure to meet you." She said with a smile, waving with one hand as the other continued to support the blanket around Anthony. " Don't mind me, I'm trying to keep him from getting sick." Val laughed softly.
" Weather effects everyone differently. Some get depressed, some are effected because it hs something to do with it's powers, others act slow and sleepy. It's hard to say why it gives you a headache and makes you feel so crummy, Anthony." Valerie explained. Lightening brightened the room for an instant and thunder ripped through the air. Valerie sent lavender eyes to the window to see the wind beating on the trees and sending the rain at the window harshly.

"My name's Jo," she said. "It's nice to meet you both." Jo ran her fingers through her hair in an attempt to get it looking respectable before she got to a brush. "There are probably a few smart people out there who decided to stay inside with the clouds as a warning." Her see-through eyelids blinked twice in succesion. They're not acting odd. This place is getting better and better as I get to know more people.
She streched her arms and curled up under her towel in the heat of the fire. She still didn't know the man's name, but she was sure that if he didn't offer it, it would come out in conversation. "How are we all doing?" she asked, glad that her interupption wasn't displeasing them.

Anthony nodded to Jo as she told them her name. She seemed nice so far, but sometimes first impressions are wrong, then again, most of them are right. He leaned back into Val, letting his wet hair drip on her leg. He turned his attention to Valerie. "Well, I would hope that you take care of me! I would take care of you! But I 'don't' get sick, just to let you know! If I do, the earth will heal me everytime." He told her letting his gaze come upon this girl. "My names Anthony. Nice to meet you. Say, I can't remember if you told us already, maybe I got water in my ear, but what was 'you' doing out in the rain? Me I just needed the most time outside before I get cooped up inside!" He said instantly letting his hand go to his head, squinting his eye's in pain. "Hmm... This headache is killing me... It goes away and comes again..." He mentioned as a lightning strike flashed outside the window.

" Of course I would." She said softly, kissing his temples after he had finished rubbing them. She smiled leaning her head on his shoulder, and yawned a bit. Warmth seemed to make her tired more than anything. And as she sat here, her leg now damp from the drip of Anthony's hair, she felt his body warmth coupled with the warmth of the fire. It was a comfortable warmth that made her want to curl up and sleep.
Looking to Jo, Valerie gave a pleasent smile. " Well, I'm fine. Better than I was before because I have company. One being yourself and the other being my handsome boyfriend here." As she mentioned the handsome friend, she shifted and wiggled Anthony side to side only a little so Jo understood who Valerie was talking about. " What about you? Other than being drenched, that is." Came her gentle question.

"Hey, Anthony. Well, I was originally swimming," said Jo. "I had gone to the lake to explore it. It's pretty amazing, with its fishes and snails and plants near the bottom. The bottom gets better because it's kinda warm down there. Heh, it figures I love being in water..." she looked at her claws momentarily. "Well, I heard this muffled boom, so I looked up. The surface water was being tossed around because of pounding rain. I jumped out of the water, grabbed my bag, and sprinted towards the school."
Jo turned to Valerie and smiled. "Thanks. It was a pretty good day. I woke up, and it was sunny. Although it clouded over later, it was still good to wake up to the sun. Breakfast and lunch were waffles and spaghetti, and morning classes weren't boring as hell. All the little things are going well today. Although there is a thunderstorm, I was driven out of the lake and met you guys, right?"

Anthony nodded to Jo. It was nice meeting another person, especially one who seemed so nice. It was a change from meeting someone an being all "... grr" at each other. He let a laugh slip out thinking about the bottom of the lake. "I always thought the bottom of the water was always cold?" He asked her, feeling Val nudge him letting Jo know that she was taken. He smiled at that again, and let his head lean on Val, his headache not letting up. "I think I'm going to go get some Tylenol or something. THis is killing me!" He said, getting out of the blanket that Val gave him. He turned around and kissed her lightly on the cheek. "I'll be back in a few minutes. Talk to Jo... I'm going to go find something!" He said and let his hand go to his head again to ease the pounding.

Valerie nodded as he got up and kissed her cheek. " Alright." She said with a pleasent smile and turned to Jo. " So, the water is warmer the deeper you go? Go figure, cause in oceans it's cooler at the bottom." Valerie gave a shrug, not knowing what to say and or do next. So she dragged the slightly damp blanket around herself and sat comfortably.

Jo nodded. "Yeah, that's the case with oceans. But Cassis lake is almost like a giant pond. It's water supply is this little brook, and so it's almost a stillwater lake. The sand and plants hold in more heat than they would in the ocean, and so it does get warmer near the bottom. At least, that's what I think is the reason. It's almost unnoticable until you go back up, and when you do, you hurry back down because it's quite surprising." Jo sometimes went on long talking sprees like this when she had a lot to say. She wouldn't blurt it out and say entire speeches in seconds, but she would soon get out the gist of what she wanted to say. Very civilly, for a talking spree."So, Valerie," she said. "How was your day up til now? Earlier, you said something that implied that it wasn't too good...?"
