Vanyel sat in the hall looking at the scrap of paper that he was given to find his room and for once in his life was totally not sure what he was supposed to do.... Absently he started humming to himself and letting go of his distress.

Chesna had been walking aimlessly through the hall, exploring the school, when she heard a faint humming coming from some where in the main hallway. How nice, she thought, absentmindedly following the melody. Almost without realizing it, she began to match the song with her own beautiful humming, adding some harmonies that she made up instantly. As she continued, she found the source: a boy in the hallway who must have been as lost as she was. Stopping her addition to the song, she approached him and smiled brightly. "Hello," she said. "I'm Chesna. That song is very lovely. I couldn't help but noticing... are you lost?"

Vanyel looked up at the pretty girl in front of him and smiled. "I heard you humming with me, that was very nice. I'm sorry if it was making you distressed. I'm a bard and an empath so what i'm feeling tends to affect the people who hear it. And yes, I'm lost. I was trying to find my dorm room, but I have no idea where I'm at or where I'm going..."

Chesna smiled lightly. "I know the feeling! I'm a siren, so people tend to be affected in strange ways when they hear my music as well... I'm not too familiar with the school, but maybe we can figure out where we're going together! I can try to help you find your dorm. Where is it?" Chesna was bright and agreeable as she always was. She couldn't help but be excited: a bard! Some one similar to her! It was the first time in a long time that she had felt similar to any one. Now, she couldn't help but hope that the new boy would get along with her.

Vanyel was so relieved and he started absently playing the miniature lute that had been across his back and let go of his relief as well, hoping that Chesna would start singing again and almost wishing that he were straight. "I'm sorry," Vanyel said playing a happy little diddy, "I forgot to introduce myself, I'm Vanyel. this is where I'm supposed to be going, you wouldn't happen to know where it's at would you?" He handed her the slip of paper and started playing a slightly brisker melody and putting through it his hope to hear her sing.

Chesna listened to the music and smiled. She looked at the paper and smiled. She couldn't believe her luck: the one room she knew! "Oh, I know just where you're going! You must be my boyfriend's new roommate!" she said happily, recognizing the boy's room number as Nashino's. "I bet we'll see a lot of each other! It's right on the first floor. Do you have a card key?" Chesna's minded moved to the music, but she would await his answer before she sang. It would be rude to interrupt him by singing.

Vanyel could barely suppress the need to hear her again, it had become an almost physical pain, but he clamped down and said "Yes, they gave me a card key when they gave me that slip." Vanyel started to wind the song down since it seemed she wasn't going to sing, but he let his disappointment radiate from the chords that he played.

"Well, just follow me," Chesna instructed. She listened closely as his music became more melancholy. She decided that it would be alright to have a bit of traveling music to go through the school. Listening closely to the melody of his playing, her lips parted and a song followed. Her words were incomprehensible, but still very beautiful. The language was one that was could bring a normal human to their knees. Chesna was glad that Vanyel was gifted, and a fellow music lover. She couldn't help but imagine that she would have no effect on him because he knew music as well as she did, but her powers could be merciless at times.

Vanyel felt a powerful undercurrent to Chesna's music and was tempted to let himself go deeper and deeper into it.... But decided that it would be better to just follow Chesna, not her voice.
