A Little Fun Never Hurt Anyone

Maeve sat at a table, legs crossed over one another gracefully. Her shoes were showing only her toes, as the dress rose just enough to allow that and only that. A hand grasped a cup gently and she sipped at whatever the school was providing for a beverage. Green eyes settled on the dance floor, where Carmela was already dancing around like a maniac. Monty seemed hidden in her chest pocket but would poke his nose out once in a while. " What an odd girl." Whispered Maeve to herself. However, she had an urge to get up and dance as well.

Valerie sat at a whole nother table, alone. She smiled at the music and her sister who was dancing about with Carmela. The two looked happy and that pleased her. As long as her sister was happy, she was too. However, Val felt a bit left out of the festivities, being alone and all. But, she would never let that down. Infact, shortly she planned to join her sister and Carmela. She wanted to feel that rush of energy that dancing gave people, it was invinegarating and she wanted to feel it rush through her own body.

Belle opened the doors to the danger room and was indeed impressed with the decorations, they seemed well thought out. She looked around for three people..well four to be truthful. Jaden and Zefrum, even though they occupied the same body, were definitely two different people. She was also looking for her friends, Roxanna and Valerie. She spotted R.A talking to someone she did not know, and Valerie sitting alone at a table. In a quick and effortless decision, Belle walked briskly over to Valeries table. She smiled at her, "You look beautiful.." She said softly, and meant it too. She kept an eye out for Jaden and Zefrum. Intent on two things, keeping Zefrum from causing trouble, and she would dance with Jaden before the night was over with, there was no doubt about that. She smiled softly at the thought. "Hey , Val...who is Roxanna talking to?" She asked pointing to the two girls deep in conversation.

" Hi, Belle. Thank you, you look beautiful as well." Valerie smiled warmly as she heard Belle's voice and saw her friend sit beside her. It was a an improvement from sitting alone at the table, and Val had to admitt she was enjoying having the company. "Oh, that? It's Carmela, Roxanna's friend." Valerie explained. Roxanna had been spinning about with her and Carmela locked arms and stopped when she saw Belle. A hand shot up as she waved and Roxanna began to pretty much drag Carmela towards the table.

" Belle! Hi!!! This is Carmela, Carmela this is my other friend Belle!" Roxanna said in almost a hurried manor, she seemed far to excited for her own good and bumbled over her words as she spoke. Carmela giggled and waved a hand happily at Belle.

" Hiya, Belle! You're powers are cool. Singing people to sleep and stuff. I wonder what your voice sound likes." And off went Carmela on a slight tangent. A hand muffled her rapid speaking as Roxanna laughed softly.

" She tends to do that. She can sense other peoples powers. Cool, huh?" Roxanna chuckled.
" I think she's having trouble breathing. It looks like she's turning blue, move your hand." Val stated rather calmly. The hand was removed and Carmela took in one big breathe and smiled, rubbing the back of her head.

" Sorry." Giggled the youngest of the group, her smile pleasent and inocent.

Jaden walked around, searching for a familiar face. He saw Belle standing near a table and walked over. Standing just behind her, he looked at her outfit. "Hey," he said, "how's everything going so far?" It didn't seem like such an elegant hello for such an occasion, but he hadn't had much experience with people. He checked one last time to make sure Zefrum wasn't going to be trouble, then smiled at Belle. "This room is amazing," he said, "And you look great yourself." He looked down at Valerie and wasn't sure what to say. This was obviously one of Belle's friends, so he felt he should introduce himself. "Hi", he said, holding out his hand, "I'm Jaden." The table was suddenly enveloped by a few others and Jaden backed up a bit so they wouldn't run him over, especially the one talking at the speed of sound.

Anthony moved slightly at the table he had chosen. The poke from his spurs ached his leg and he felt that if he walked around a bit, it would help it to heal a bit faster. Too, bad I didn't get a date. Look at all these people. They have someone. I have noone! Such a pitiful life for Anthony. He referred to himself in the third person in his thoughts as he slowly walked around the beautiful dance room. He noticed that the candles never seemed to want to melt. It was weird how that happened. It would be awful for the hot waz to drip on one of these lovely ladies dresses or his authentic cowboy hat. Leather. It never gets better than that. Awfully expensive as well... Anywho.. I wonder if theres anyone to talk to? He asked himself as his eye's looked around at the other costumes that was present. How wonderful. Everyone seemed to be having a good time except for him and... Who was that?

Anthony tilted his head slighlty as he started to remember her from the other day outside of Cassis. It was strange how that day made him feel so weird about that one girl. But that was over now, Now was the present and even with the pain in his feet he felt like it was a good idea to formally introduce himself to her. He walked over to her. The spurs clanking on the floor giving the appearance he was coming. The cowboy get up was exicuted well. He let his hands hold onto his vest as he looked at Valerie. "So, pretty miss. These here seats taken?"

Belle laughed at Roxanna and Carmela's excitement. "Its okay Roxanna.." She said laughing even harder when R.A. covered Carmela's mouth. "I asked Valerie the same thing a while back dont you remember?" She giggled and held her hand to her mouth. She gasped when she heard Jaden's voice behind her . She twirled around. "Jaden!" She exclaimed happily as she leaned over to hug him. "Its been a while hasnt it?" She asked wondering what Zefrum thought of the whole deal of Jaden going to a ball and trying to be happy. "Is everything....okay?" She asked him knowing that he would know that she was referring to Zefrum. She turned to see Anthony walk up and talk to Valerie. That was good seeing as Belle was about to take Jaden to the dance floor whether he liked it or not. She smiled and turned to him. "Let's dance!" She said grabbing his hand and pulling him to the dance floor.

Val looked at Jaden and shook his hand firmly. " Hi, I'm Valerie. Sorry about those two, dancing seems to make them hyper." Laughed the soft-voiced Valerie. She released his hand and turned to watch Roxanna and Carmela as the mutter between themselves at an insane speed. What they were saying she would never know, for now, as she was distracted by the appearence of one very handsome cowboy. She smiled, very happy to have even more company. " Well, Kind Sir, those seats don't hold anyone. Why don't you pull up a chair?" She offered, a kind hand motioning to a chair near by.

Anthony nodded to her with a smile and moved to the seat that was open. It wasn't directly beside her, but it was good enough for the time. "So, Miss... I don't beleive I've seen you around these here parts in a while. I think after those cowpolks set that sceme on my, I havn't had the pleasure of introducing myself to you!" He sat down and Tipped off his hat to her and sat down, making sure this time that he didn't spur himself again. The pain in his leg was just now leaving him and didn't want to start of the flaring pain again! He nodded to her, lifting his hat off after he sat and placed it infront of him. "So, Miss - May I ask you name?" He wanted to know her name badly. He seemed to have misplaced the name from his memory. He never could remember hardly anything, but how could he forget hers'?

Jaden was going to say something, but his hand was suddenly grabbed and he ws tugged away from the table. All he could do was look back and wave. Jaden felt slight whiplash as he was pulled toward the dancefloor. "Whoa," he said once they stopped, "I need that arm, you know." He smiled. "Everything is fine," he said, "I think we've decided that tonight is mine. You're the only one I'm going to share it with." He smiled again and looked around at the dancefloor and all the people on it. "Dance?" he asked, "I've never... well..." Jaden looked at Belle nervously, having never danced before.

" Hmm...Well, I'm Valerie. Valerie Faust. But you may call me Val. And who, handsome stranger, are you?" She asked, pulling out an old southern drawl to play along with his cowboy appearence. She had placed an elbow on the table, resting her chin in the palm of the upturned hand. She smiled as she looked him dead in the eye, her own lavenders seemed fixated on the boy.

" No, That's a stupid one!" Carmela blurted out. Roxanna reached out and covered her friends mouth, hushing her before she herself went on to whisper more things. The two seemed to be debating something with one another. And had slide into chairs opposite of Valerie and Anthony. They would look to the two and then to Belle and Jaden out on the dance floor before continuing their conversation.

Belle laughed happily. "I know you need that arm! I brought you out here for two reasons..First, I really wanted to dance with you.." She blushed when he said he was spending the day with only her. " Second, I didnt think you would want to answer my question with so many prying ears." She said looking over his shoulder to Valerie, Anthony, Carmela, and Roxanna. They seemed to be deep in conversation. "Well..false alarm, they seem to be in a world of their own. " She caught Roxanna and Carmela glancing at her often and frowned slightly. She turned back to Jaden. "You've never danced?" She asked increduously. "We will change that now!" She said laughing. She pulled him close, gently this time, and started to sway slowly at first so he could get the rythm.."Its easy really..just follow my lead." She said, gradually speeding up to match the timing of the song.

Jaden followed Belle's lead, a bit embarassed, knowing that the guy was supposed to lead. He decided people might make an exception in his situation. He smiled. "I think I'm getting it," he said, "by the end of the party, I might be able to keep the beat." He laughed and looked around again. The mood was so relaxed. "I'm not used to this," he said, "I've never done... anything. I'm glad to be here. It's nice to feel like a real person for a change." Nice moves, Jaden heard in his mind, Step, one two, step... Go on, fancy-feet. Enjoy it while you can. Jaden didn't understand what it meant, but he tried to contain his composure. He looked down to make sure he wasn't stepping on Belle's feet. "Am I doing alright?" he asked, "Though I'm a first timer, I may be ready to go pro. Autographs and all."

Anthony looked at the others who had gathered around this table and could have swore that this was the popular table. It had to be. "Well, My pretty lady, The name would be Anthony... but you can call me Deputy!" He told her trying to keep up the cowboy attitude and appearance. He was failing miserabley at it. He'd seen only a one or two westerns, but they were nothing to get his vocaulary off of. He admitted defeat and confessed. "Well, Valerie...I'm not much of a cowpolk and I'm all out of words, so... Back to being normal..." He thought for a moment looking around. 'Normal? Who was being normal tonight?' He shrugged his shoulders and continued. "Sorry about the other day, I don't know what overcame me, but I was going to ask you to the dance, however I think it may be to late... Did you come with anyone?"

[•Mouse•]

" This may make your day than, Anthony." Smiled Valerie she eyed her sister and Carmela as they once more began grumbling at one another. " I came alone. Most find my motherly-tendancies to be annoying. But I'm shocked, someone such as yourself would find me interesting." Laughed the girl softly as he said he had run out of things to say as a cowboy. Her lavender eyes had once more shifted on him as the main focus. " But, please, call me Val. Hardly anyone refers to me as Valerie. It makes it seem like they think highly of me. Nicknames are far more friendly." Laughed the girl softly.

" Okay, fine. It's decided!" Roxanna proclaimed a little too loud. It wasn't much of a shock as her hands shot to her mouth and covered her lips in surprise. Nor was it any more shocking to see Carmela do the same. Moments later the two were giggle.
" You ask them." Whispered Carmela, her voice happy and excited.
" No, You!" Roxanna replied sharply.
" Noooo." Whined Carmela as she pouted.
" How about, I ask Val and yoouuu ask Belle!" Roxanna said, smiling as she looked about to make sure they were not being spied on.

Anthony jerked his head in amazment at her words. SHE doesn't have a date... why not? She's gorgious... He made himself more comfortable around her at that moment making sure that no big guy was going to come over and start to pound on him with what powers they had. Something he had to becareful of around gifteds. Stronger gifteds follow close. "Well, Val... Would you mind accompaning me for the rest of the night? "He nodded his head to her. "Well, Val... I think I like Valerie better, but if you want to be called Val, I think I'll be able to deal with it!" He thought for a moment and looked at the dance floor. "So, do you want to dance or anything?" He asked her hopeing that she might want to dance. Any pain from his feet would just have to wait for a soaking after the dance. "Just watch out for my boots. They have a mind of their own!"
