Powers: Plant manipulation. Simply put Mikhail can increase the growth of plants, change their general make up and control how they move. Of course to do all this he must have an energy source, so his body absorbs light and converts it into energy for his plants, kind of a photosynthesis type process.
Weakness: People and cigarettes. People are too complex for him to understand, they are illogical and irrational. They change too often, as soon as you think you have them figured out they decide to get a new attitude, they need to be more like plants and stay to one straight form of growth.
Power related issues: Storing the light's energy in his body slowly damages his bones structure, causing him pains and stunted growth. Should Mikhail store the energy in his body for too long the damage can spread to his internal organs, forcing him to vomit violently and to take on deadly illnesses. When in areas devote of light it becomes incredibly difficult to use his powers unless he has light energy stored up.
Personality: Even when trying his best to be sympathetic Mikhail often comes off cold and uncaring due to how he often appears removed. Because of these common misconceptions he tries to keep quite and only speak when spoken to, this only makes his case worse off.
Mikhail has an addictive personality, he constantly makes excuses for his ways but even he knows that the simple truth is he has no self control. His addictive ways are so bad that he once got addicted to a book about breaking addictions. When he isn't able to get a fix off his addictions he often becomes moody and irrational.
History: Mikhail was born into a middle class family in Berlin. Once he was born his mother was instantly worried when she noticed his occasional heavy breathing and lack of appetite. When she questioned the doctors about it they simply said that he showed no signs of asthma or any other illnesses. Still his mother was wary, she kept his two older siblings away from him for nearly three months, hoping that he would get better in time. She was wrong, he steadily grew weaker, until he came to the point wear eating was near impossible and breathing was hardly better.
After being put into the hospital the doctors put baby Mikhail though a series of extensive tests. Each one came back inconclusive. Still they held him their, studying the odd boy. Many nurses were paid to keep a steady on the child at all times. For years he was kept in the hospital and yet no evidence came to explain why he was constantly ill.
Finally when he turned 9 they released him, his health had grown better and they had found no evidence what so ever of disease. Months after his release Mikhail discovered that he could 'play' with his mother's roses. Whenever he was alone he would make them dance for him, but soon enough he grew bored of their simple dances and started to practice other techniques on them.
After five years he had learned nearly all there is to know of the plants and was able to make them do almost anything he wanted. One day while playing with a Venus fly-trap his father walked in on him. His parents grew fearful of him and watched his every move, they began removing all the household greenery. The Rines lives were bleak and filled with fear for nearly one year, but as soon as Mikhail turned 15 a odd man came to him on his way home from school simply saying "Your unhappy here, come and live with others like you." without any thought Mikhail followed the man, leaving all behind except for a pack of cigarettes and some geometry homework.
