The security room was dark as always, lit only by the glow of screens. Dr Anya Ross hated this little room; it was cramped and always stuffy - much like the rest of the laboratory. The entire compound had been squeezed into the back of the local fitness center, in an attempt to keep it secret. All the rooms were either flourescently lit or stiflingly dark, and the few windows were barred. There were security cameras everywhere to ensure that nobody arrived or left without Anya's knowledge. Anya took a seat and plugged her laptop into the security hub. From this room, she could cycle through all the cameras in the building, including those outside of the lab. She could also check the status of any of her patients, and remotely operate any of the security locks.

Seaheart peered around and then spoke. "Hmph. This reminds me of my little lab. Having access to cameras...controlling some of the school. Though maybe you should'nt put it into a place where someone curious may be wandering around and stumble to it. Hmmmmm? OR where people with extra vision can see. Maybe put some security in case I decide to take this place by force? To make it my own? So what do yuou do here? Work behind the scenes to make this school yours? Or just keep a close eye on your students so they don't take the stupid game of Spin the bottle or Truth or Dare too far, hmmm?" Seaheart had only met her and was already toying with her. She had a know it all and cold presence around her so messing with her would be fun. "Oh. If your wonderging how I got in without you knowing, I turned into a shaodw and blended with the darkness."

Anya continued to stare straight at the computer screen, although her fists were now tightly clenched. Her lab had been infiltrated - well, it had to happen eventually. "Well," she slowly replied, swiveling her chair towards the young stranger. "Whatever my purpose here is, it certainly isn't to entertain you," she answered, her voice low and quiet. Sneaking a sideways glance at the cameras, she noticed that her security guard seemed to have disappeared. Chances were that he was taking a nap behind her back, but this kid might've taken care of him too... "Do you go to the nearby school by any chance?" she asked, sounding a little warmer. If she couldn't force him out, then she could at least give him a detention.

Seaheart shrugged, pacing around the lab as if he were some person looking to buy a home or soem guest. "I never asked you to entertain. But the way this lab security is set up, you couldn't entertain a bored rat. Anyway, yes I go there. So? Teacher, I take it? So really, what is this lab for? Don't tell me to make sure so everyone doesn't stay after Light's Out? If it is, I'm gonna be in detention alot. The night is my home. And so are the shadows. And no teacher or rule can change that? If you understand that, it will be easier for you." He said thinking how easily this woman got angry. He saw her fists clenched and she was wondering if her little guard had been taken care of. He didn't know if she was overestimating him or trying to figure him out.

Anya tilted her head and grinned, folding her hands in her lap. "You do ask an awful lot of questions, kid," she said, wondering what he meant by 'it will be easier for you'. "You are welcome to your shadows. From the sound of it, I wouldn't expect you to attend detention anyway. But you can kindly leave my private office alone," she bluffed. Her 'gift' wasn't dangerous like most others, but he hopefully wouldn't force her to reveal that...

"Yes I aks many questions? But your a teacher, get used to them or else I can gladly take over your job. The students came to learn about powers....well....I've seen just about all of them and have had alot of expierence. You? You've probaly read books on learning and how powers function, and how one can coem to develop them, crap, crap ,crap. Well listen dear, if it's that way, anyone can do that. It all comes down to experience. What is your power anyway? Controlling earth? Fire? Water? Because by your air, you feel superior. Well trust me, by your look, I can see your not. A lab? By this look, your not even gifted, you seem more of a scientist. But oh ho. You can't compare to the grest scientist I've met." He said calmly taking more looks around. "Kindly? Private? Is that a threat? If so, the worst I've ever heard. So is it a threat? If it is, can you hold it?" He said his face calm. He closed his eyes and put his face close to her, allowing her to get a close up look of the indifferent face.

Anya couldn't help but be amused by this lengthy spiel. "Is that right?" she asked curiously, wondering just how he'd come to be so opinionated. It wasn't normal for someone his age to seem so... experienced, as he put it. What was it he'd been doing during his short life? (Not much shorter than her own, she reminded herself). "Yes, I suppose I am a scientist and no, I don't compare myself to the greatest scientist you've met," she said eventually. "Is there anything else you'd like to know about my profession, demeanour or existence in general?" she added, with growing sarcasm. "Because I'd like to return to my work now - with your permission, of course."

Seaheart thought about it for a second and said "What exactly is your work? Trying to find ways to make yourself more powerful? Understand gifted? Test on gifted? Humans? What is your power, I'm asking for the second time. Obviously one of your powers isn't superior listening." He said allowing no sarcasm or retorticlaity (Is that's a word. Lol) The thing with old Seaheart is that if he makes an insult, it won't have sarcasm or anything to make it sound like an insult. It will just sound.....indifferent. "Existence....a hard word that is....what is existence? And what makes something not exist? Memory is surely a key role in existence. And so is the natural order. Such as if there is no chaos, there can be no order. Too much order equals perfection, and only one being can be perfect or beings considering I don't know if my religion has one or many gods. Only the Guado gods can be perfect. If soemthing else is perfect, then we are gods and shall surely kill ourselves in our quest to see who is the better god. Too much chaos....well, the beasts that are restrained by the natural order shall be released from their suppressing walls and then? Then hope shall only be a word." He said in a sort of speculating voice. He couldn't wait to see who she would react to that. Seaheart definitely wasn't your normal 17-18 year old boy. "Did you know that....doc? You are a scientist and teacher after all in a gifted school. Well....maybe that type of philoshophy would better be left to philosophists."

It was all Anya could do to stop herself from laughing aloud. Somehow, she could relate to him. He was really something else, this shadow-boy, and she couldn't help but take a liking. "I don't care for any gods, I've always held more of a nihilistic view," she flippantly replied, relaxing a little. "Since you are so persistently interested, I shall answer your questions. You guessed correctly: I am interested in self-improvement. The laboratory is used to analyse the changeability of human DNA structures - well, that about sums it up for now, further explanation will only require further explanation, which I don't have time for. I'm quite sure your curiosity hasn't been curbed, but I have things to do. Hmm?" She looked at him with both eyebrows raised, thinking that she'd probably only encouraged a dozen other questions...

Seaheart put on a bit of a grin. "Self improvement? So you plan to make yourself more powerful? Some beast of power? WEll my dear, you should leave it to the proffessionals. Leave living with a beast waiting to tear through to me, Shade, and Ven. Why? The beasts we have are real. More than beasts. A beast that thinks, has been around before itme was even beginning to be thought of. Beasts that can make you torture yourself. Just know, if you continue your so called self-improvement research, I will keep my eye on you, and if anythign suspicious concerning you arouses, I'll have to kill you. And judging that you havent told me your power yet, after I've asked you more than once, I'll take it your unwilling to tell me because then your bluffs and your so called essence of superiority will vanish. So from now on, watch your back, your front, your sides, and below, but most importantly, your mind, because I can wipe it out in a second. I can, but I'd rather torture it, and feed off your pain." He said with an air of evil, and cruel enjoyment. He tensed up in case she decided to strike or call back-up.

"You'll have to kill me. Such a bold statement." Anya smiled again, genuinely amused. This boy, although self-righteous, was a never-ending box of laughs. "Listen, kid, I don't doubt that you could kill me. But I seriously doubt you'd enjoy the consequences." Straightening up, she looked him in the eye, taking on a more serious tone. "You cannot solve problems by simply killing. The world holds too many subtle connections for such wanton justice." Her clenched teeth hissed on the final word. "And one last thing, kid - I'm not afraid of you. Did I forget to mention nihilism?" With that, she turned and began to unplug her computer.

"Yes. But it seems the only way to make you not laugh is to kill you? This world ain't a game? JUstice? You velieve n justice? There is only less evil? No justice. Whenever someone says they can win by it, they are either stupid, or have never witnessed evil. And believe me. Consequences don't matter to me. If I kill you, what do you think the consequences will be? Questions? Expulsion? Being sent to jail? You tell me since you think they actually make a difference in the matters of life and death." He said leaning against a wall looking away.

Anya folded the laptop away and put it into a slightly battered black case. "No, I will not tell you. You've already mistaken my meaning and completely failed to grasp my point, and you will do so repeatedly until you've figured it out for yourself. Before you ask another barrage of questions, you should consider their relevance." When she was done, she went straight past him and out into the brightly-lit corridor. Like much of the laboratory, it was painted white with a particularly ugly shade of yellow on one wall.

Seaheart grunted. Annoying woman she was. "Note to self. Never talk to older...much older woman." He said to himself. "Your point seems to have no relevance of it's own. Your not even giving hints to your point, so how do oyu expect me to know it, considering all you've doen is think my questions are annoying, and feel that by me killing you, consequences have meanign to me." He said walking after her. This was almost getting fun.

"Consequences, which you clearly have a limited concept of. A jail term would be only a very simple, obvious consequence. So what does that imply?" Reaching the end of the corridor, Anya removed her long white coat, revealing a suitably casual black roll-neck and a pair of jeans. She then opened the door which led into the main building. The door was white and inconspicuous - even the center's staff ignored it, once they'd been told that it was an unused broom cupboard. As for the janitor... well, he just wasn't that bright.
