Cobalt steered Maya through the familiar territories of Cassis, weaving through the occasional person and strange stares at their gooey cherry-pie-covered bodies. He could smell the familiar chlorine scent of the pool before they even reached the fitness center. He had spent so much time in here, that it was like a second home to him. He might as well own the weight room, at least.
He opened the glass door for Maya and led her into the large, echoey chamber that was the indoor pool.
"So, here we are. The water's usually a nice temperature, so don't worry about being too cold," he assured her as he started to strip down to his cotton boxers; which was easy, by the way, as he was already shirtless. He kicked his flip-flops over to the wall he was nearest to, dumped his pants on top of the shoes, and proceeded to take a running dive into the water. There were a few cries of dismay from the sparse swimmers as cherry chunks floated up into the water--the pool cleaners might kill him later, but he'd be sure to find a way out of it. If not, he'd been in enough trouble before, and he'd learn to bear it. Besides, a little more wouldn't exactly hurt him. He ran his hands through his short, crew-cut hair under the water to make sure he got out all the cherry goop and came up with an explosion of water.
"Come on, Maya! Don't be shy!" he called to her with a laugh and a small splash in her general direction.
