OOC: No worries. I know how it is when the code starts acting up. *Shakes fist at code*
BIC: Jarrod noticed her silence, marking it as a good thing. He assumed not that she had nothing to say - she could probably find something if she wanted to - but that she had been sricken speechless. He hadn't gotten - or wanted - that response from a girl in several years, back when he was homeless, but that situation had greatly changed now. He took a deep breath as he gazed into her eyes, the vibrant violet vividly vexing his vision.
He slid his free hand up her side, slipping it over her shoulder and onto her neck, cupping her face in his palm as he ran his thumb across her cheek. His face inched closer and closer to hers, his gaze never leaving her eyes as his smile slowly faded into a visage of near-longing. He finally indulged the urge, closing his eyes as he moved his face into hers, tilting it to the side.
And he pressed his lips gently against hers.

Chills ran up her spine as a rather warm hand ran up her side...Perhaps she was striken speechless. SO many toughts ran through her head. Am I seriously kissing him? Is this really happening? What about Arkady? Do I tell him? Relaaaxx. Her heart was now beating at a nice and rapid pace, which she was sure he could have heard. Was he nervous? Maya was. It was all happening so fast, but it was as though it were supposed to have happened at the rate it did.
Before Maya could finish rounding out her miscellaneous thoughts, smooth lips were pressed against hers. She didn't know it, but she had closed her eyes as well. All tension was released from her muscles as she kissed back.....
After what seemed like a lifetime (In a good way) passed, Maya reluctantly broke the kiss. Her eyes opened as she gazed at Jarrod, smiling abit. Wow.
Yes, Maya was officially speechless.

He slowly opened his eyes as her lips pulled away from him. 'That was good,' he thought as he stood there, putting the hand that cupped her face and neck back down to her side, holding her as they stood there in the shallow end of that beautiful lake. He was breathing hard, the noise of his own heartbeat drowning out the sound of hers, which he normally would have picked up. He had no words for the moment; he simpply stared at her for a few moments, trying to discern if he was dreaming. He was swimming in the most gorgeous lake, kissing this gorgeous girl... That kind of stuff wasn't the event-pattern he was used to.
Finally, it was Jarrod that broke the silence. "We've got to keep bumping into each other like this," he suggested, his lips breaking into a wide smile. He chuckled a bit, less out of ammusement then out of happiness. He always laughed when he was happy. He continued on, thinking about what he'd just said. Why not? "What about Friday?" he asked. "Can I take you out on a date this Friday?" he asked.

Maya simply stared back at him, the silence not umbearable. It gave her free time to think...And there was alot to think about...Perhaps not for him, but for her, it was Arkady. Normally, Maya would be nonchalant about it, seeing how her and Arkady aren't a couple...They haven't even kissed yet. But still, there's the deepest connection there. So now, Maya was going to have to be honest with both Arkady and Jarrod...She wasn't really the one to cheat and lie..
She laughed when he sugested that they bump into eachother more often, just as he did. Then, he asked her out on Friday. Her lavendar eyes were directed down to her fingernails, not looking him directly in the eyes as she had before. "Jarrod...Okay...There's someone else. His name is Arkady.." She pasued, looking back up at him, only for a second. "No, Im not two-timing anyone, because him and I dont go out, and we havent even kissed yet, but there's a deep connection between us."
"I just wanted to tell you...Im not really the one to cheat and sneak around...Yeah." Still, she didnt look back up at him, and really didnt know how he would react. Well, no matter what did or didnt happen between the two of them, she was honest.

Now he was confused. There was somebody else? That would mean she was involved before she had ever come down to the lake and met him, unless she was making this up to get out of a date... Which he was pretty sure she wasn't. So... Why had she made the first move like that? It made no sense to him. He raised his eyebrows, a show of confused misunderstanding on his face. He stayed silent for some time, thinking about what he would say and do next. Finally, he came out of his silence.
"Okay..." he said as his hands drifted away from her side. He took a step back and stood there looking at her. "That's ok," he told her. "I won't try to get in you guys' way." He still didn't understand why she had made the first move, and even more so why she hadn't stopped him from kissing her if she was already involved with somebody else. It didn't matter though; Jarrod had learned not to question the 'Why' of things a long time ago and learned to simply accept reality as it was, however much he may not have liked it.
He was suddenly not in the mood to swim anymore. He began walking back toward the shore of the lake. He was sure that he would run into Maya again and that when he did, he would be fine with what happened here, but right now he just needed to take a nice, hot shower, get some comfey clothes on and watch a bit of TV. He waved back to her as he walked away. "I'll see you around," he called to her.
He couldn't leave it at that, though. He was going against anything he typically would do, but then this had been a rather atypical encounter for him anyway. He usually didn't kiss on a first date, much less a first encounter. He stopped despite himself and turned around, facing her and keeping his hazel eyes trained on her. "You shouldn't have let me kiss you if you were already involved," he told here, and he remained stationary as he waited for her response.

Maya watched as he turned to walk away...All he had said was "Ill see you around". But how awkward would that have been? Apparently he didnt want to tlk about it, so that left alot of misunderstandings and such... Maya's hands dropped to her side, fingers barely touching the surface of the water. Maybe should have just lied...That seemed to get peopleplaces, and often. Sometimes the truth was no one's friend, and it this case, it didn't like her at all.
"You shouldn't have let me kiss you if you were already involved."
Maya sighed, "I told you, I'm not involved! Well, my feelings are, but Im not tied to arkady. And you kissed me" She knew she kissed back, but technically...

"Still," Jarrod said as he crossed his arms, "You didn't try to stop me." Didn't that make her just as guilty? Besides... "If you already have feelings for somebody else, doesn't that mean you wouldn't be interested in me?" He assumed that was the reason she'd said that instead of directly answering his date question with a yes or no. He resisted the urge to sigh; he had the feeling that this was about to get complicated. No matter what happened, he was determined that he wouldn't harbor any ill feelings toward Maya. After all, he was equally - if not more - guilty for the way things turned out. This would surely be just as complicated for her - probably vastly more complicated, actually - then it was for him. He stood there, shifting his weight onto his right foot with his arms crossed, not in a posture of confrentation, but rather one of utmost curiosity.

Maya shook her head, looking down at the water, the sun glistening off of the surface, a slight chuckle coming from Maya. "I didn't try and stop you because I was confused...And you know what, I still am...Im confused on whether I should just walk away and pretend it never happened, or act like it did happen, admit my feelings, and see were it goes. from there." she looked back at him. "And no, just because you have feelings for one person doesn't mean you can't have feelings for another. Im pretty sure you've had someone you liked, and then found yourself atrracted to another person." It was more of a question than a statement. And Maya, really was confused, because either way, someone was going to get hurt, whether it be her, Chris, or Arkady, or perhpas all three of them.

She had a point - a rather good point. He couldn't help but smile as she said that, his eyes resting on her face. 'Confused?' It was only what he'd been expecting, after all. Complication. He'd been thinking it all along, and it seemed he was right. Ok, now where to go from here. It was a question that was likely as important to her as to himself. He knew the suggestion he wanted to make, but he wasn't sure it was the best thing for Maya. Not knowing Maya, he couldn't have possibly told her what was the best path for her to take anyway. That wouldn't stop him from trying though. A councelor he was not, but he could still try and give some friendly advice. Couldn't he? "Well," he finally said after the silence that came from his thoughts, "There's probably one question you want to ask yourself before making your decision. Do you think that your feelings were a bad thing? Basically, would you regret denying what you feel sometime in the future, and is it worth taking that risk to you?" He was trying to sound more deep then he really was; in hindsight, he thought it actually sounded kind of corny and even a bit stupid.

As the seemingly endless silence went on, Maya began to think...Okay, so they kissed. Was that enough to go on? Was it too late to turn back? Which one of the two was she closest to? What would Arkady do or say? How would she feel if she kept on going with this, seeing how it's not too late to break it off. Then, he asked the question:Do you think that your feelings were a bad thing? Basically, would you regret denying what you feel sometime in the future, and is it worth taking that risk to you?". Her head went up after a moment of thinking. "You know...At first, when we kissed, I didn't want to hurt you by telling the truth. And I realize now that if I wanted to be truly honest with both you and myself, I would have to..." She paused, "I would have to say, No, I wouldn't regret it...What i would regret is running Arkady's feelings for me into the ground for some other feelings that barely even developed." She didn't enjoy being right and doing the right things, but she was pretty sure if Jarrod was in this position, he would have taken more over less, which in this case, Maya's feelings for him were less compared to her feelings for Arkady. Maya began walking forward, speaking at the same time, "Jarrod, you're attractive, and I'm pretty sure that you'll find someone just like that" She offered a smile. Maya continued throught the shallow end, until she reached land, swiping up her towel, wrapping it around her.
