Seaheart had a feeling with what just happened, they were going to be a bit more than close acquaintances. "You wish. Your gonna need me to protect you with my shadows." He watched her leave. He delved into her mind for just a second. Off to see what Vanden was doing. He hadn't gone very far but he couldn't help but think she just might ask him on a date. Bah. "Have...fun."

Alicia walked through the library doors. She lifted her head and looked around in awe at the rows of books. Where she came from there was a small book store, but no library. This library made her mind spin. She forcefully closed her mouth, as her jaw had literally dropped. She walked through the aisles of books trailing her hand along the spines. She immediately headed toward the fiction section, for fiction was her favorite. She smiled slowly as she went over a part that was almost dedicated to one of her favorite authors. Peirs Anthony, The Apprentice Adept series, the Xanth series, Incarnations of Immortality series.... She picked up a book of a series she had yet to read.."Wow.." she whispered. "Its been so long since I have seen one of his books I haven't read.." She opened up the cover and began to read even before she found a seat. She flipped through the pages quickly for she had always been a fast reader. She looked up briefly to find a seat. The light was shining it seemed just right next to the window. "Ahh..seats in the windows..Always wanted one like that." She grinned as she made her way to the comfortable looking seat. She sat down and slumped against the window pane trying with much success to get comfortable. She sighed and dug her face deep in the book, becoming completely oblivious of anything other than the constant flow of wonder and fantasy that were Peirs Anthony's books.

Vanden absently trampled into the library, his eyes dull. He wasn't feeling amazing. Incredibly lonely, hopeless, among a few of his plethora of equally as amazing emotions. He didn't know why he did this sometimes, he just..well, did. Shrugging, he sat down and noticed there was someone else in the library. He just looked at her, studying the girl.

Alicia stopped reading for just a moment. She had a habit of stopping after a few chapters and thinking about what she had read. She liked to close her eyes and imagine that she was in the book. She had learned that she could almost place herself in the position of the protagonist and almost live it in her head. It had always been a favorite activity and that is one major reason why she liked to read. It had been her escape from reality when she was younger and she had never gotten over the joy of it all. She just so happened to glance over and noticed that she was no longer alone in the library. She stifled a gasp, and grasped the book to her, as she noticed that he was looking straight at her. Her head tilted to the side as she looked him over, giving him more than just a passing glance. "Can I help you?" She asked quietly. She couldnt bring herself to talk loudly in a library. For some reason she never could.

Vanden was suddenly a bit surprised and embarrased. He realized he was staring a bit, and maybe even drooling. He cursed under his breath, and smiled politely. "Help me? ..No..I'm just..here, I guess." He laughed nervously and shrugged. "I'm Vanden, by the way." Vanden looked around the library, keeping an eye out for the "human studies" section. He had always been interested in psychosis, for some strange reason, and read extensively on it.

Alicia giggled at his surprise, and quickly raised her hand to her face. She felt the blush start up her face and she dipped her head to hide her face. 'Breath...' She told herself. She laughed at her own embarrassment.."Why am I embarrassed?" She asked herself. She slowly turned her head from behind her book to where she was only peeking over the edge. She watched him look around the library. 'Is he looking for someone?' She wondered. She cleared her throat and closed her book. She laid the book on her lap and looked at Vanden. "Hi, Vanden. My name's Alicia." She swung her legs over the edge of the seat so she could look directly at him. "Do you like to read, too?" She asked him, motioning to the book she had and tapped the cover. "This is one of Peirs Anthony's ..he's my favorite.."

Vanden smiled at the girl strangely, not really knowing why. "Oh, I love to read. Battle Royale is my favorite book, ever hear of it?" He spoke a bit enthusiastically. Looking down, his face was red. It was always like this, whenever he met someone new, he became extremely shy and reserved. It bugged him, but it's not like he could change well, himself. "But yeah.." He shrugged, he was horrible at making converstation.

Alicia watched as he became so enthusiastic about books. She couldnt help but grin. She loved to meet people who loved books like she did. "No I haven't read it..but I am sure that if it is one of your favorite books it must be a good read..What subject does it fall under?" She asked as she stood up. "I'll check it out and make sure to read it. " She looked around the library. "I dont usually go past my favorite readers. It is sad but true. I am , if anything, a creature of habit." She smiled as she looked over her shoulder to Vanden. "Come on..you want to show me where it would be?"

Vanden blushed deeply. "It'd be under science fiction..but it really isn't all futuristic and the like. It's very..demented, I suppose, brutal and unforgiving. I love it." He grinned wickedly and stood up, stretching. "I wouldn't know where anything in this place is, but if I did, I'd be happy to show you." He smiled politely. He felt a bit out of it today, and began humming "Hyperballad" and absently tugged pulled a hair out of the top of his head.

"Ahh science fiction.. Just my area!" She turned quickly on her heel. " This is the first time I have been in this library, but I almost always seem to be able to find the fiction section! I think I am just drawn to it.." She heard him humming and her eyes closed for a second. She caught herself doing it and jerked herself back to her senses. "Anyway...Follow me..I know where that section is and we can look for the book together..How does that sound?" She looked back and saw him pulling at a strand of hair. "Hmph.." She laughed at his absentmindedness..' Kind of like me...' She thought to herself.

"Really? I don't normally like Science Fiction, more just Fiction, but I suppose it has its gems, like my book, for instance." He smiled. "Sure.." He followed close behind her, and after realizing he should stop pulling his hair, absently tugged at the short hairs on his arm, feeling a strange mixture of sting and pleasure when the hair was pulled. Sighing, he wondered why exactly, he was so strange.

"Wonderful!" Alicia grinned at him and started walking to the fiction section. She swung her book back and forth as she walked. She made herself walk slowly because she wanted to talk to Vanden. " I really think that fiction really has fantastic books. I cant see the wonder in non-fiction..How can anyone let a non-fiction book take them to a place that only a fiction book can? If you know it has happened, how can it stimulate the imagination? Where is the wonder in that? I think that, personally, those kinds of books hold to interest at all.." She looked over at Vanden and let her voice trail off." Wow, I was rambling on wasnt I?" She laughed nervously and cleared her throat. She brought the book back up to her chest and hugged it close to her. It was a protective measure and she knew it and hated it..but she couldnt stop herself from doing it. She leaned her head over the book and laid her chin on it as she walked. "Why do you like reading?" She asked hopeing that he would forget that she just couldnt seem to shut up when it came to books. She was blushing furiously and wished that she hadnt said anything at all.

Vanden was surprised at the girl's intelligence and opinions. He smiled faintly. "Yes, I understand completely. Although the fact that it has happened may take away the magic of it somewhat, some stories are just amazing by themselves, real or not." He paused for a second. "Well, maybe not amazing but interesting." He shrugged. "I read...strange books. Books about psychosis, demented people, schizophrenia, anything that exploits the fragility of the human mind. It's really amazing that something so complex can be reduced to such primal desires..." He blushed. "Now I'm rambling." He grinned a bit.

Alicia looked up startled that he agreed with her. Most of the people she knew before she came here just laughed and said that she needed to get her head out of the clouds. She smiled slowly and just broke out into a full grin. "If you like books like that then you will love Dean Koontz! That is his speciality..His books are morbid and sick in a way not many people understand..I have a fascination will his books as well. He mixes the right and wrong in so many ways..some things that should never be printed. Like a man that would kill children using voodoo just to get an open minded cop off his case?? Should that be printed? Ahh..well. that is just my..well..Like I said I hold a fascination for them..not a love for them..Some of them are fantastic, some are scary. " She laughed as she put the book down back by her side. She noticed that they had almost passed by the aisle they were looking for. "Ah..Fiction." She went down the aisle perusing the spines of the books. Running a hand lightly over the back of each book as she read the titles. "Who wrote it, did you say or did I miss something? I wouldn't doubt it..I can be very absentminded." She looked at Vanden."And sometimes rambling can be a good thing..Let's people know what others are truely thinking. Its hard to lie when rambling on."

"Same here!" He couldn't hold his exclamation and pleasant surprise at her reaction. "I don't praise or justify the acts in the books, just hold a strange adorement..or rather, fascination for them. What about 42 high-school aged teenagers being forced to kill each other on an island? I love stories like that, brutal representations of how little it takes to transform the human mind back into what it was when the world first began.." He stopped himself, realizing the rambling was beginning. "Koushun Takami wrote it. It's a Japanese import."
