The sound of black pumps touching the tiled floor filled the air as a woman stepped into the nurse's office. Her long hair had been pulled into a high sitting, very nicely done, twisted bune. Long strands framed her face as indigo eyes looked out from behind clear, wire-framed, glasses. Something was new on Loretta Polter, one of the schools science teachers, face. A diagonal cut ran across the length of her cheek. Blood had run to her cheek and dripped onto the collar of her dark blue, button up, blouse. Some of the blood had even gotten on the white lab coat.
A student had gotten rough with the woman and shot something at her, causing a graceful slice upon her face. It had bothered her only a little and upon receiving it, Miss Polter (Lori or Etta to colleges) hadn't even flinched. But, a student who was fond of the teacher had asked her to go to the nurse after class. Here it was, the end of the school day and the start of the student freee-block and Loretta was in the nurse's office.
The blood which had fallen upon her clothing had caught fire just after it happened, her blood being napalm. So there were holes in the collar of both her shirt and coat. Another bothersome factor about being attacked. Polter would see to it that student recieve the proper punishment for attack a teacher. It was getting ridiculous, the amount of times she had been attacked by that particular student.
" Excuse me." It seemed to be a raspy, and naturally sultry voice that called for the nurse. Lowering herself into a seat, Loretta smoothed out the black skirt she wore and ran a hand over her smooth knee. Now came the usually short wait. It was a good thing Loretta had been blessed with an extreme amount of patience.

Nurse Godfrey came out of her office, prepping her hands with brand new latex gloves. The immaculate infirmary nearly echoed with the clicks of her shoes. Arella smiled lightly as she saw her newest patient. "Good afternoon, Miss Polter," she said, making her way over to the special refrigerator she maintained in the infirmary. She was used to having to deal with students whose powers went awry or who had gotten into a fight, but to see a teacher in was rare. Arella racked her mind, trying to remember Miss Polter's powers. She had the entire staff's powers memorized; it was just a matter of remembering. Looking over her shoulder, she saw that bits and pieces of Miss Polter's collar missing. Napalm. Of course. Miss Polter was a unique one.
"So, why don't you go ahead and tell me what happened, Miss Polter? A student?" Arella asked, turning back to the refrigerator and opening it up. It's only contents were bags of blood, ones that Arella collected herself on a regular basis. She had specially designed the bags herself. Picking up one that was nearly empty, she opened a drawer in the fridge and took out a thin tube. The tube was inserted into an opening in the bag, and the blood easily flowed to through the tube and waited to be expelled. Arella worked quickly, gathering cotton balls, wash cloths, and keeping the bag of blood cradled in the crook of her elbow.
Miss Polter wasn't going to be a particularly easy patient, but Arella was used to that. She walked back over to the teacher, sat her supplies down, and took a wash cloth in her hand. Sure to keep her fingers away, Arella carefully worked to dab Miss Polter's blood away from the wound so that Arella's could take effect when applied.

" It's the same student as it was last time. He got angery because I wouldn't let him do as he pleased during a test. I'm telling you, Miss Godrey, this is getting out of hand." Came the plain statement. Loretta didn't flinch as the woman dabbed, her only worry was that he blood would catch the cloth on fire and once more, Loretta would have to put the fire out.
" Be careful, I don't like the idea of something being held by a college catching fire. I'm sure you understand what I'm saying." Some would think a teacher might have a tone that suggested superiority when speaking with a nurse or student. Many thought Loretta was thought highly of herself at first glance. The young teacher carried herself with pride, head held high and face placid and calm. But she never talked down to people unless they truly deserved it or acted as if they were lesser. That was rare however, as Loretta had different standards.

Arella smiled. "Don't worry, Miss Polter. I'll be careful. At least you cooperate. It's difficult to heal some one who's purposely attacking you." She laughed lightly, still gingerly patting Miss Polter's wound. When she felt that she had tempted fate enough and that the wound was clear, she carefully opened one end of the tube and released the remainder of the bag on to a cotton ball. "Just to warn you: this won't sting at all, but it may tingle, in case you've never been healed by me." Reaching out again, Arella dabbed the bloody cotton ball on Miss Polter's cut. This was a routine she was all too used to; to her, medicine was made easy. Bleed on a wound, watch it heal, and ta da! No pills, no bandages; just a cotton ball and some bodily fluid. Arella had even made boo-boo kissing inadequate.
"There are just times when I don't understand these students. With a staff who cares for them so much, or could easily kill them at a moment's notice, why would they ever misbehave?" Arella chuckled lightly as she finished applying her blood to the cut. She watched it carefully as it mended itself. She checked for any scarring or signs of abnormalities. As usual, there were none, but it was always nice to make sure.

" Thank you, Ms. Godfrey. Once again you've healed me in a moments notice. Fantastic, job." Her comment was truthfull as she reached up and touched the spot. It was healed completely, Loretta felt a bit relieved. As Arella had stated, the blood merely caused a bit of a tingling sensation and then it ended. Removing her glasses, Loretta cleared them of dust and placed them back on the bridge of her nose.
" I don't understand it either. In a world of people so against diversity, we're the only ones that seem to care. And then they go an attack one of us. Mainly me! What their thinking is that trying to harm a teacher makes them look cool and will gain them popularity. I remember those days, don't you." There was a shockingly wonderful tone emitted from Polter, a musical laughter that pulled her lips back in a smile and gave her a very peaceful appearence. At a normal point in the day, the woman would come of as being stern and serious even if she was joking. But, oh, when she laughed did she look more approachable.
Loretta was a friendly woman, kind to her students and rather easy on the homework. Students generally took a slight liking for her as the woman didn't seem to mind soft chit-chatting so long as the students involved understood what was going on and didn't ask absurd questions. It had been only moments ago when she was informed by a student that they were worried about her cut. The fact a student actually cared after she had been attacked again was somewhat of a heart-warming thing and made the woman feel a bit more liked. As long as the student's didn't hate her, Loretta was fine.
Indigo eyes slid to the side and looked at the whole in her shirt. " I think I'm going to have to buy a new shirt." Sighed the woman, a but upset with the fact she had gone through three or four blouses this week. Having napalm run through your body in place of blood, saliva and persperation was a hassle. It burned through cloths and ruined bed-sheets. It was also handy however, knowing that if someone cuts you with a knife the blood on the blade will burst into flame and melt the steal.

The click-clack of talons on linoleum sounded just outside the cozy little infirmary. A moment later the door was gently pushed open to reveal the source: His name was Ethan Swyft; and he was half-dragon. Ethan looked in an smiled sheepishly, one hand pressed firmly to his collarbone; he had used his tail to open the door. "Oh, umm, I'm sorry if I'm interrupting. It's just that I, uh..." His tanned, striped face crinkled into a grimace. "Ahh, oww, that hurts... But I can come back later, if that would be better."
/So polite and proper!/ came Arlaxishar's taunting voice in his mind. /When did you become such a sycophant, my boy? You'd made it quite clear that students and teachers are practically in a perpetual state of WAR./
Ethan sighed, but didn't bother clarifying for his 'other half'. The dragon was still unused to many things in Ethan's world. Everything was so black and white with Arlaxishar, and Ethan was having a hard time explaining some of the finer nuances of human nature to the Sun Dragon with whom he shared a body. And besides that, Ethan had over heard how the teacher was injured by a student attacking her. He didn't want to unsettle either of them with his appearance, and hey, first impressions were very important - even Arlaxishar had to admit THAT.
