Thanks Terren for the Plot!
At one time, gifteds roamed the streets of the normal world. They lived normal lives as anyone else did. They all knew they were unique, but it was a few years after they started showing up that one decided to take advantage of his powers.
A gifted, self-named Diamant, decided that the nations should be ruled by someone with real power to change things. He felt the normal humans weren't of sufficient strength. It took him a short time to amass an army of gifted ones.
The war lasted about five years. Diamant had died in the fourth year of the war, but his subjects continued to fight in his honor and with a strong belief in his teachings. The gifteds were to become the supreme beings. After one year of disarray, the gifteds were defeated by use of the governments' full force in arms.
In the years after the war was over, the world decided to rid itself of the gifted influence in order to avoid further uprising. Gifteds were captured and killed; some were experimented on. A worldwide reformation to a "natural order" was to occur. Balance was to be returned.
Within twelve years, the Earth was all but wiped clean of the gifted. Only a few thousand remained. At the end of the twelve years, another gifted one decided to separate the gifteds from the normal ones, but not by force this time. Her name was not recorded, but she is remembered in all of the gifted schools and neighborhoods as "The Savior", the one who saved them all.
Slowly, but surely, the gifteds were rounded up into one secret community. Land was set aside for the building of a grand city; the city Cassis. It was assumed that the city was named after the Savior, but nobody was sure. The city grew bigger and bigger, and so demanded more secrecy. Normal ones were not allowed to live in the city. Though they could enter, they did not stay long. Each day, a chemical developed at the city's beginning was released into the air. It caused a unique rash on the skin and only gifted were immune to it. This helped in the identification of strangers.
And so the world was split in two. Though still dominated by the influence of normal ones, the gifteds could live in peace. And though some gifteds still come up in cities outside of Cassis, they are quickly found and brought to safety. And so without revolution, without a thirst for power, and only with the desire to uphold the sanctity of all life, the gifteds live on in the safety and shelter of the city of Cassis.
