It was a sunday, so people seemed to be bustling about to get to the church or go home or whatnot. The park was also busy, filled with children, parents and the such. The benchs seemed full for the most part minus one or two that were positioned on either side of a gaint shady oak tree. It seemed that everyone wanted to be in the bright afternoon sign, feeling it's warm rays dance on their skin.
Valerie was not one of those people however. She saw the vacant and shady spot and sat herself with great care on one of the benchs. A small novel was in her hands and instantly was opened to a marked page. Lavender eyes began to scan the words as the girl sat humming in solitude. It was a nice day to sit outside and read, so why not?
Single rays of lights darted through the leaves and danced across her light blue tanktop which had gentle beading designs around the neck. The small spots gave her a little pattern on the dark blue jean shorts she wore that came to mid-thigh. They were cuffed and seemed distressed and worn but were still in one piece. A pair of black flip fllops were all Val wore as a finger gently turned the page.
The blond hair of the girl had come to life this morning and pulled itself into a high sitting ponytail found at the back of her head. It had curled, into small-tight-little curls that now fell to her shoulders. Bangs brushed against her forehead as they always did, with a curly strand on each side of her face. Light blue rose shaped studs fit in the first holes of her ears. Hanging from those studs was a small short chain only about 4 centimeters long with a light colored saphire teardrop at the end.

"Ummm..may i sit down?" Lazaria said as she appoached the girl sitting under the tree. It was a beautiful day and Lazaria wondered why the young girl was sitting under the tree alone when she could be having good time with someone else. She also thought maybe she could be that someone. The girl looked lonely and Lazaria wanted to be her friend.

" Go ahead, it's not my bench. There's no need to ask." Laughed Valerie softly. Only her eyes had left the book. And that was only for a mere second before they once more turned to the pages of her novel. Valerie had gone back to her humming softly, a gentle smile still on her face as, once more, her finger turned the page to a new chapter in the book. A sense of accomplishment washed over her as she read on.
" I'm Valerie." Came her soft words as she read on, it seemed as if she was trying to make a friend. Why not? Lazaria seemed nice enough. Generally speaking Vla was a bit surprised at being alone for the day. All that needed to happen now was Anthony popping up out of nowhere. But, Val thought that Lazaria was company enough. Her lavender eyes left the page and a single hand left the book. The hand waited for a shake as Valerie awaited the name of the girl who had asked to join her.

"I'm Lazaria." She said back with a small smile and a chuckle. She was surpised the girl was so nice and then she thought maybe she has a new friend. She ignored Anthony, "So how old are you." she said as if she was flirting but it was only friendly. As the Valerie stuck out her hand of a shake Lazaria gently shook her hand tighly

" Me? I'm 17." Explained Valerie as she dragged her hand back to her side. (Anthony isn't there. I said all that needed to happen now was that he would randomly pop up. Anthony is Marree's character.) " How about you?" Asked Valerie as she looked u pto the sky beyond the leaves. She smiled softly to herself, watching the light dance and strive to get through the light green covering. It was as if the light wanted to kiss her skin.

Lazaria smiled back, "Gee, you look much older then your age and by the way i am 19." Lazaria was amazed how much the girl look older then her age. Lazaria was getting kinda bored so she asked " I am not trying to be pushy or anything but do know any single boys around this place, I just moved here about three months ago and still can't find any single ones." Lazaria was used to having a boyfriend because in her old neighborhood she was the one then guys loved, and asked Valeria beacause she was very attractive and Lazaria thought she was the type the boys loved. (oh i thought you said he popped up my bad)

" Hmm? No, not really." Valerie thought long and hard. In her mind, Anthony was hers after all they had done with one another. So, she thought of him as a boyfriend instead of a plain old friend. She looked to Lazaria and shook her head. " I don't really know many guys. And the ones I do know either have a crush on someone, are taken, or I have no idea about their current status." Valerie once more shrugged.

"Well thats to bad." Lazaria was really upset ( not really she was just disapointed) "So i declare you my first friend?" Lazaria wanted to here a yes and maybe an offer to go somewhere but that was just a day dream. Lazaria became even more bored and wanted Valerie to ask her some questions for a change.

" Hmm, Then friends it is." Valerie said as she looked to the book she had closed and marked her place in. It sat on her lap, it's cover nothing inviting right now. Looking around, Valerie saw there was nothing much for them to do here. Prehaps a walk would be nice, that always seemed to settle well with people. " Lazaria." Began Valerie, lavender eyes turning to the young girl. " How about we talk more while walking? I hope that's okay. But, sitting around gets a bit boring." Explained Valerie with a smile. She stood and brushed her butt of gently of any dust and turned to Lazaria with a pleseant smile.
" So, I have to ask...Where do you come from? I mean, your heritage? You're name is fairly unique so I was assuming it might have something to do with it. I'm part Russian and part Scottish." Explained Valerie as she picked up her book and tugged it under one arm, stepping away from the bench slowly.

Yes my first friend lazaria thought to herself. Lazaria was very exicted the girl asked her to join her in a walk, so she go up and did the same she wiped off the back of her skirt and then she pulled it down as if someone was looking like her skirt was up. "Well, lazaria said as they beagn to walk, I am many things my mom was black and german and my dad is scottish and indian." Lazaria thought that Valerie may not belive her but she had nothing to lie about so she continued," So me and you have something in common were both part scottish, but the only diffrence is is that you are 1/2 and i am 1/4." Lazaria beagn to laugh. "But the weird thing is my name is Hawaiian and it means beautiful STAR.
