Name: Zhou Xi (Ephraim)
Nicknames: --
Aliases: --
Age: 19
Marital Status: Single *hint hint*
Sexual Orientation: Bi
Weight: 134lbs
Height: 5'8"
Eyes: Mauve
Hair: A very, very light blonde, almost silver
Ethnicity: Chinese (Mandarin)
Clothing: Anything traditional chinese, and preferably without shoes
Powers: Ring Forging - Ephraim can borrow a bit of the quintessence that makes up a Gifted's power and break it down to its purest state and extracts one potential from that essence; he then binds that essence to a ring crafted of a specific material related to that essence - a ring that anyone can use, including him.
As an example, let's say Ephraim extracted some of the quintessence of a flame elemental. Stripping this essence down, Ephraim decides that he'd like to be able launch fireballs. He would pull away that essence and sufuse it into a ring crafted of granite (igneous) rock. Mmkay?
Furthermore, he doesn't have to instill a ring with power; Ephraim can simply take a chunk of material he or someone else likes and turn it into a ring^^
Ephraim currently has three rings in his possession:
Water Walk - A ring crafted of blue topaz that allows Ephraim to walk on water for as long as he maintains concentration.
Stunning Blow - A ring crafted of obsidian that allows Ephraim to concentrate and focus a large amount of qi into a single punch or kick that could send any foe reeling.
Magnetic Touch - A ring crafted of hematite that allows Ephraim to 'magnetize' his hand for as long as he maintains concentration.
Weakness: Extracting essence and binding it to a ring takes a lot of concentration. If something distracts Ephraim, the method he uses to extract a smple of quintessence shatters and he may suffer from the backlash of the energy he has unleashed and lost control of.
He also tends to let people walk all over him if he feels the issue is minor, and can be very gullible at times.
Power-Related Issues: Aside from concentration, forging a ring also consumes a vast quantity of Ephraim's energy and he could very well collapse from exhaustion when a ring is completed. Using a ring also consumes energy, but no where near as much as forging.
Also, just as a point of interest, the rune on his forehead glows while he is extracting and forging; it means 'ring bearer' in ancient Mandarin.
Personality: Quiet and reserved, Ephraim speaks only when spoken to, and his English, although excellent, is laced with both a Chinese and British accent. It's quite easy to make him laugh, though, and next to impossible to anger him - unless you insult his honour or his family.
Loyalty and honesty are the tenets he lives his life by, and Zhou Xi never resorts to insults or pranks to 'get back' at someone he feels has wronged him. Vulgarity and profanity are things almost unknown to him.
History: Born and raised in Beijing in the province of Cheng Du, Zhou Xi (pronounced Jhoe Shee) is used to the rigors and pandemonium of a busy city. At the age of 6. though, much of his family moved to Tewkesbury, a small town on the Avon. His parents, wanting to make sure they're son developed an appreciation for nature, decided to foster him in a Xaolin monastary in Xi Liang - then left. Ephraim learned many different styles of Kung Fu and did indeed develop a deep understanding of nature and life.
His English was learned by spending summers with his family, and is also how he adopted the name Ephraim when dealing with those unfamiliar with Chinese names and pronunciation.
Respected for his quiet demeanour and purity of speech, Ephraim has never been hassled about his strange looks. Everyone has always accepted him for who he is... err, at least in China. His visits in England usually involved a little friction for him, but once the other children discovered they couldn't get Ephraim to rise to the bait of their teasing, they soon gave up.
His ability to forge rings was discovered quite by accident, and once the knowledge was made known throughout the monastery, the Grand Master thought it would be most prudent if Zhou Xi were sent to a special academy he had heard of in the Americas.
Used to being foisted off here there and everywhere, and raised to trust the Grand Master without question, he agreed and is now living in Cassis.
