Eyes: Almond shaped and a dull Brown-Gray color with vertical slits that generally change size depending on her mood. She has thick, dark etes lashes as well.
Hair: Straight, thick and dark brown hair falls to a little past her shoulders. Some might say her hair is black, but only in certain light will it appear to be so. Lighter brown highlights are found in the hair that frams her face and falls just a little past her chin and her bangs.
Heritage: Her parents don't know really. So, nor does she.
Physical Appearence: Ayla is tall and built for what seems to be hand-to-hand combat. Appearing strong, and cuvratious seems to be a big part of her appearence. Though no matter how strong and tall she is her face holds soft and kind features. Her skin holds a cream color and is soft to the touch. No matter what she does she still looks very feminine and is proud of it.
Clothing: The same color blue is a constant in all of Ayla's clothing. She also likes to wear black and white with it all the time. And it is very rare to see Miss Calhoune in pants and or skirts. IT's just not her. She wears comfortable clothing and generally looks nice in whatever she wears In another post I will include two pictures. They will be of her most frequent outfits and choices of clothing. I may also include a third but I am not sure.
Powers: Ayla is called a Dwelling, a self made name for her 'curse' (as some would call it). It may not exactly be a power but it's what she can do and given as her unique ability. Found on the palms of each of her hands there are X-Shaped slits. They span her entire palm, but do not reveal any form of bone as they seem to be extremely deep cuts. These cuts act as an exit of sorts for what lives inside her. What do I mean? Easy. Inside Ayla, though somehow it doesn't show up on X-rays or the such nor does it deform her, lives serpentine-like creatures called Sypsis (Sip-seas).
They are about 6 inches in diameter and completely round. The Sypsis seem to have no defined length or even a tail, and never fully leave Ayla's body. They seem to be connected to her and you will never see the end. No one knows how, but she can have up to three Sypsis come from each hand, the cuts on her hands being their way out--which open to reveal a simle black hole of such-- . The Sypsis have beak like tips that have a slight hook to them. These are their mouths and upon in four parts, each covered with razor sharp tips and lining their throats are more razor sharp teeth that go all the way around the out side of the throat (a grand total of three rows).
Sypsis tend to eat for them selves and ar none to come out when Ayla gives them permission and feed on just about anything they crave, humans sometimes included. When this happens, and the Sypsis return to Ayla's body, blood is left on her hand. Ayla is known, on occasion, to lick the blood of her hand as if it were nothing. AIDS, STDs, and the such dieses have no effect on Ayla as she is immune to dieses which are transfered by blood. I do believe you would call that a blood born dieses, I'm not sure. She just has a strong immune system thanks to the Sypsis that live inside her.
It seems that cutting of her hands and arms or other such appendages does nothing as Ayla can regenerate only minor parts of her anatomy. Anything other than her hands, fingers, toes, feet, arms and legs, cannot be regenerated generally speaking. Unless it her ears or nose is messed up, she can readjust and regenerate those as well. However, it takes soem time. Depending on the size of the limb it can be a few seconds to a couple of days. IF she looses a whole leg from the hip down...it will take a solid week. As the Sypsis are creatures of their own design, living like a parasite inside Ayla, they have a mental connect that speaks to Ayla and tends to agree with her thoughts and actions entirely. However, they can act on their own if need be.
The Sypsis look like they are covered in black metalic armor that looks more like riibs than anything. Between the gaps in the metal dark red flesh is found. It seems they are also always covered in a kind of clear slime or liquid and come off to always be wet.
Weakness: Strong smells, overpowering oders and the such drive the Sypsis crazy. Which drives Ayla crazy. Long periods of time without food don't do her any good and makes her very tired or really cranky. Electricty doesn't like her very much as the Sypsis seem to be covered in metal. Severe cold is a no-no as well, and the winter is her least favorite time of the year.
Power related issues: Ayla tends to talk to herself as she answers the Sypsis mentally as well. It's a common misconception however. When regenerating her limbs, Ayla will genral slip into a vegitative state while working on the big projects and becomes kind of immobile.
Personality: Ayla is nowhere near as complex as some of my characters. She's a rather average girl to be frank. Shopping is a fun pastime, talking is always a good thing and she is somewhat flirty. Loyal to her friends, and trustworthy with many things. Ayla is an honest person and tends to make it obvious. Easy to anger seems to be a big part of personality as she doesn't tend to like condescending attitudes and thinks everyone is an equal.
Ayla also likes children and gets along with them fairly well. She enjoys have fun and messing around with random things. She keeps herself occupied with just about anything as long it is fun. It is common to see her with Iron Baoding Balls because they make such a wonderful sound and keep her rather calm. It also seems that the Sypsis enjoy the musical iron balls that she keeps with her most times.
History: 20 years ago Ayla Calhoune's parents got married at the ripe age of 19. They didn't know that after two years they would give birth to their first child, Ayla. Ayla was their first child with 6 more well on their way already. For the first years of Ayal's life she was an only child, and lived happily with her young parents in a small house. However after her 4th birthday Ayla's grandparents past away in a car accident leaving their large house (3 stories) to Ayla's parents. The house was where they lived for a half a year when Ayla's mother became pregnant with twins. Little Ayla was estatic.
9 Months later, Ayla had twin brothers who weren't the typical demon little siblings. They in fact idolized Ayla and fallowed her everywhere for a year until another baby was born. Now, with three younger siblings, Ayla was getting on in her years and was about 7 or 8 years old. 3 years later another child was born. The fourth in the set of 7. In two more years another two would be born and by the time Ayla was 18 she was the big sister of everyone's dreams. She had a job and a car and got along well with everyone. Her powers and abilities were normal in her famil.
For 10 of her 18 years of life, Ayla had the Sypsis living inside her. At first her parents and family didn't know what to do. However, after a few months of talking, and thinking and working with good family friends the Calhoune's discovered that the Sypsis were no trouble at all. They were kind creatures and didn't cause much problems at all. The fact they liked the Calhoune childre was a plus because each time a new baby was brought into the family the Sypsis would lovingly play with the children and such when Ayla allowed it.
Two months ago, Ayla's 5 month old baby sister Lori went missing. It take three weeks to final found her, and when they did it was discovered a couple had taken her and swore up and down that Lori was their child. They were horrible parents and mistreated the child. When Ayla found them it wasn't her that hurt the horrible people. It was the Sypsis. They devoured the people whole, not allowing Ayla to reason with them. Ayla was tried for murder however officials from the city of Cassis made the whole thing disappear from all records and asked the Calhoune family to move into a home in the City. The Calhounes accepted. Having the same blood as Ayla ment the family was immune to the chemicals in the air which allowed Gifteds to differentiate between normal people and themselves.
Now, Ayla and her family live in Cassis, near the school. And because the young woman has a car she visits them frequently. She attends the Academy and stays in a dorm there, however spends the weekends at her home. .
