He walked back a little more, sensing the fact she was uncomfortable. Caynce had even surprised himself, being so close. But as long as he wasn't touched, then he was fine. And he couldn't blame her for taking a step back, knowing that not alot of people were comfortable being so close together when they were complete strangers, especially not him. He wasn't comfortable with being close to most people, including his adopted parents most of the time. They knew how he was, and so he respected her personal space, knowing he'd want the same from her.
"It's alright." he repeated, putting his hands into the pockets of his jacket and watching her. He didn't know what to do. The boy knew it would be rude to leave without a reason, like he was about to do before, but he didn't know if she wanted him to stay with her or not. Either would have been fine by him, so as long as she didn't bring up his past again. Because of his sensitivity, just talking about these things almost made him cry. Almost, because he didn't cry when other people were around, he did it only when he was sure he was by himself since he didn't think he needed to add anymore negative things to his reputation.
Caynce let his gaze fall to the ground, staring at his feet and feeling a little guilty now, the anger, or whatever you called it, drained out of him and completly gone from his system. Now he just felt bad, nervous, and tentative as usual.

She laughed, a hollow sound of what once was. She looked at him, a weak smile on her features, as she shrugged her shoulders. Am I a mood killer or what? She said, arching an eyebrow, her eyes no longer dancing. The nymph lept of the table and raced to her foster child. The chittering began again, different lecture, but yet again still a lecture.
For shame! Look how bad you're making the young man feel! Where is my Aridia? What've you done to her? What you need is a good dance in the forest, don't think I won't make you! Were her words, right before with a crack she was gone.

Caynce shook his head, an obvious sign of a 'no', saying she wasn't a mood killer. He noticed her laugh wasn't as elated and carefree as before, and began to feel worse by the second. Was this all his fault? Was it because of him that a sweet, beautiful girl completely changed? Caynce bit his lip, tapping his foot against the smooth surface of the floor, still unsure of what to do. The only thing he could think about is how he must have hurt Aridia's feelings, because he let his mind wander at the wrong time.
The boy watched as the nymph came over and started chattering something to the girl, and he watched, not knowing what the creature was saying, but doing nothing anyway. He simply watched with an empty gaze, eyes glazed over as the scene unfolded before him and then the nymph was gone from sight. He didn't wonder how it happened, even though he didn't know, all because he was doing his best to keep his mind entirely blank, free of thoughts so nothing could happen.
Maybe he was being a bit dramatic and senstive, but this was Caynce.

She smiled softly at her gaurdians words, a real smile, not an empty reminder of what was. She tipped her head back and laughed out loud, her laughter was back. The tinkling bells resounded through the cafe. She sighed, a small smile on her fine features.
On a spur of the moment idea, she looked at him, her eyes dancing with unspoken mischief. Do you want to do as a nymph does? She asked, her words a puzzle to all but who could understand her and her kind.

As the sound of tinkling bells, such as the kind heard during Christmas along with the joyful laughter of other, he felt a little better, thinking maybe he hadn't completely destroyed Aridia's personality, and when she smiled, though it was small, he believed everything would be fine and that he hadn't made such a huge mistake after all, which was a huge relief for the young boy. When she looked at him and opened her mouth to speak, he listened to her, tuning out the other voices and paying attention to the girl.
Then he became confused, not understanding what she asking. Either that, or he didn't understand what he had to say. For example, when someone asks you 'What's up?' you're supposed to say 'Nothing much, you?' or when someone asks 'How are you?' you're most likely going to say 'Good' and then move on. But when she asked him this, he had no idea what the correct answer to this question was. A bemused look took over his pale face, and, in a low, shaky voice, he inquired, "What do you m-mean?"

She sighed, very over exaggerate and she knew it. But she had to stifle a laugh, he really didn't know what she meant. I mean, do you want to...Well be a nymph in behavior, for a bit? She asked, rephrasing her question.
Aridia waited for his answer. She really believed it could help him. But she was loath to reveal what acting as a nymph was, unless he answered the way she wanted him to. If he said 'no', then it was fine, she wouldn't mind, but she didn't want to tell him what she meant, have him chicken out, and then wonder.

He bit his lip, wondering if he should go or not. He didn't know if he should be acting like a nymph, not that he had a full meaning of what a nymph was, to be entirely honest. But with this, he quickly made up his mind and shook his head, rubbing his pale eyes. "No thank you, I need to leave." he said quietly, blinking once before turning on his heel and walking towards the exit.
He gave her a farewell wave of his hand before he left the shop, the door once again making that bell ring, which either announced his prescene or gave away the fact he was leaving. But he was leaving, glancing back at Aridia from outside the shop and then walkling away towards the school campus.

She sighed and shook her head, wondering if it was worse for him to wonder what she meant, or to know and wonder what it was like. She closed her eyes, taking a breath. She was used to this, to no one understanding her, and she could over come it, yet again. She opened her eyes, and walked out. She was headed to the forest, to her home, where she had promised her 'mother' that she would come to be herself.
And be herself she would, with a backwards glance to the cafe, and then turning to look at Caynce, she shook her head and walked away, her body itching to be one with the forest, to dance the dance of the nymphs, to hear the dryads, and to be her. And they were already calling her, the nymphs, the dryads, and all their cousins.
